After our last video on sad boss fights, you lot put tonnes of excellent examples in the comments. Here are just a handful of them. Be warned: there will be tears. š
-
"It's normal for siblings to fight. It's just usually not with lightning." Azula disagrees.
-
Whoa whoa Paarthurnax is an optional boss fight at that point you're just hurting yourself
-
Hollow knight is my favorite game, and seeing that scene everytime breaks my heart, I would also like to two point out about the broken vessel's battle was also sad, seeing that it's body reached out to the knight at the end of the battle. Which was sad too.
-
Never got past Papyrus in the genocide run. His unwavering faith in me had me sparing him right then and there. I could never bring myself to do it, despite multiple attempts.
-
Sif from Dark Souls. Good boii was only protecting his master's final resting place and we killed him
-
Sora vs Roxas is pretty sad... But... Roxas vs Xion is pure sadness
-
The worst bit about paarthurnax is that when you chat to him about killing him, he tells that itās probably in all fairness, a good idea because to fight his destructive nature is a constant struggle, and he doesnāt know if heāll one day succumb to those desires.
-
3:28 I really thought she was talking about corona an entire year early
-
The Roxas boss in Kingdom Hearts 2 hurts more when you already know the story from 358/2 Days.
-
"If you ever even consider killing Paarthurnax, youre dead to me" Graenolf
-
If you think defeating Roxas was sad, try 358/2 Days when you're playing AS him defeating Xion! She was the second character, in games, I've ever cried over! First one being Elizabeth in Bioshock Infinite
-
"You were my brother, Anakin! I loved you!" "I HATE YOU"
-
Jane's 'anti-fidget spinner and other viral sensations' wrath is both relatable and terrifying. I suppose we should be grateful it gives her something to concentrate her powers on...
-
At least 5000 hours in on Skyrim, never killed Paarthurnax. He ain't heavy, he's my Dova Kin
-
You know, its funny. This video was what inspired me to learn more about hollow knight, and now its one of my favorite games, all because I thought "hey that fight is sad, but in a very real way and its not a metaphor for something. I wonder what the rest of it is like." So thank you outside Xtra. You helped me find a game I truly love and I'm very grateful for it

Me: sees Papyrus on this list Me: āIām not ready to have my heart broken again.ā
-
Paarthurnax? That's weird, I remember there only being one option to that Blades quest, forsaking the Blades for even suggesting that I fight my cool dragon friend. THE ONLY OPTION.
-
Great Grey Wolf Sif, Dark Souls 1. His intentions arenāt even to protect Artorias, itās to protect you. He was given the Covenant of Artorias Ring so that no one would ever try to traverse the Abyss again and become corrupted by it like Knight Artorias. In fact, if you play the DLC before you fight Sif, the cutscene is extended and he will jump on you, but recognize your scent and your face, then forlornly go pick up Artorias greatsword in his mouth and turn to face you. He doesnāt want to fight his buddy but he has to

Papyruses fight still bring me to tears to this day, and I've never done genocide.
