Published 2024-01-21
In today's video, I wanted to deep dive into the use of Berberine for regulating your blood glucose, aka your blood sugars.

This popular herbal medicine has been used for hundreds of years for various conditions but it has gained a lot of its popularity for its help with blood sugar regulation and the actions of insulin.

Here we will cover how it works and how it can be used for blood sugars and for weight.

Enjoy!

I eat a clean whole food diet. Keto based freshly at home. Cooked on low heat with 1/2 cup of low glycemic fruits (infrequently) like blueberries or strawberries after my fats, meat, and dark leafy greens. Water and loose leaf teas are all I drink. Never added sugar. Always active, exercise, and moving daily, and throughout the day. I don’t overeat. Always make it a point to walk or exercise after every meal. Intermittent fasting 16/8. Yet my blood glucose levels spike regardless. Ever since I had a life altering accident, my body stopped functioning normally. I know you mentioned diabetics and pre diabetics are ones to consider Berberine. My fasting blood sugar has been stuck at 99 for years. The swelling legs, continuing weight gain without any changes in diet, and insomnia are getting worse. I am willing to try 500 mg once a day to see if it brings me some relief. My doctors say I am lucky to be alive, but I want to have my quality of life back!

Robin, thank you watched your video with a great deal of interest and will talk to my GP when visiting next week Although on a lot of medication for type E diabetes thoughts are now turning to 36 hour fasting as this reduces insulin injections and controls weight - your thoughts would be welcomed Ken Shaw😊

I usually eat a small snack with coffee at 9am then dinner at 530pm. I'm not diabetic Do i run a risk of hypoglycemia if i take 500mg of berberine at 530am,12noon,thenjust before dinner?
  • Hi, being a type 2 can i take Berberine while taking 500g metformin?
  • @MsQ275
i think it's a good option to NOT get t2, along with diet, exercise and sleep. my family has very strong history of t2 and I'm working very hard to make sure i don't develop this with poor choices. also, it's very very important to get a high quality berberine! i use Thorne and see wonderful results....my mom however, needs her metformin. also, she refuses to change her unhealthy lifestyle.

Tis an exaggeration to suggest Berberine is "a solution" to type 2. A help, sure. A solution...not even close.
