The European songs competition was better in the past compared nowadays.
  • @sebaszwarc
I would say 1968 winner was very deep in terms of lyrics :)
  • @mael2039

This used to be a song contest where the writers of the song were credited and they had an orchestra playing. The singers got up on stage and sang. It has now morphed more into the value of the stage production, special effects, backing dancers and how bizarre their clothes are, or lack of them all performed to a backing track. Whatever someone identifies as their gender has little to nothing to do with the song they're singing. I think they should rename this contest as it's nothing to do with being the writer of a winning song anymore.

when eurovision was a song contest and not about politics and trying to anger people with ideologies

2:58 I always had a weakness for Sandie Shaw's winning song - it puts a large smile on my face 😃
  • @Stefax
Loreen is the first woman and second person to win twice. We are also the second country three times in the 2000 century after Ukraine.
  • I wanted Finland to win but it didnt, also i was extremly chocked how Spain only got 5 points from televote also im very mad and upset that Armenia ONLY got 14th place i mean its good but it deserved to be in the top 10 it was my favourite and probably the weirdest part was when serbia got only 30 points in total
  • @pebb1
There were definitely surprises with basically all countries except for Sweden and Finland in the Televote but I can’t express how happy I am right now, LOREEN DID IT AGAIN! 🇸🇪🏆

people who think that there used to be better songs are probably older people. until 1980 I have the impression that nothing changes. Nowadays, much more is demanded of artists. music is one thing, but the show, dance, outfit, carrier of emotions, etc. do not move in one place

It's interesting to me how many early song winners were in the nations' native language and how it eventually started becoming English songs, no matter the country.
