The footage for this first episode was never recorded to be used in this manner. It was originally shot for friends and family and for our own personal archive. When the idea of creating a YouTube channel was considered, we then put the footage we had together to form a coherent narrative. We had no idea that this first attempt at creating something like 'The Scottish Isle' would attract 10k subscribers in the first two-weeks! When we realised that people are very interested in our life here, we then began filming in a manner more conducive for an audience. Stick with us, each episode visually and audibly gets better.

Title music 'Wild Mountain Thyme'; a traditional Scottish folk tune, performed by Tara Howley.
Background music: Stephanie Liney playing Si Bheag, Si Mhor on harp, traditional Irish folk tune by Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738)

Having lived in a house with stone walls, pause a little before you rip it back to bare walls. Bare walls will be very cold in winter. Some form of stud wall that allows for a waterproof membrane and modern insulation will make the place so much more liveable.

I'm absolutely bloody green with envy, but hope you two will be happy, prosperous and incredibly blessed on this amazing path. Best of luck!

As a 73-year-old Scot, stuck in America I have accepted that I'll never see hame again. My daddy like myself did not find the streets lined with gold. lol I think about Scotland continually and will think of your family and pray for your love to grow as the years ebb onwards. Blessings Billy

We love what you’ve done so far! One request, please slow your camera panning down to half of what we’re seeing now, or just hold the phone or camera still and describe what you want us to know. The fast movements are difficult for some of us to handle. Thanks and we can’t wait for your next video!
  • Im stuck in Glasgow and can confidently say that this looks like a dream come true im five minutes into the vid and very much looking forward to watching you’re adventure unfold.

My Mom was born and raised in Scotland and came to the US when she was sixteen. I was able to come to Scotland five years ago. What a magical place! Can't wait to see what you guys do with the place!

What a beautiful place, & there is no way I’d be sat with my back to that magnificent view in the office. I’ve just discovered your channel, you are living the dream that I am now too old to follow, so I will enjoy following your adventures. I wish you nothing but the best.

I came across your channel this morning, Asia time and already up the episode 5. I just know Im going to binge watch up to date and press like before I view, knowing I will like. Great shot of the slow worm at 15.35. Love the sheep and cats being a farm boy in my distant youth. You both have voices well suited to commentary, very listenable. Thank you for this gift of your channel.

Your new home looks wonderful but challenging at the same time. The restoration process is going to take some time, but well worth it in the end. Best of luck to you both on this venture.

Escape to Rural France is a channel here on YT. He renovated an old stone farm house and now is renovating a Chateau that was literally the exterior stone and nothing else. There was a TON of point work he did on his stone walls. It's great reference especially if you need to stabilize or want to add windows, new beams etc. You certainly have your work cut out for you but what a dream to live on a Scottish Island! Also, the sheep are so cute, the smaller one has to have the bigger one in his sight at all times. It's adorable 🐑❤️🐑
