Xenomophs are the great Filter. This is actually genius.
  • I personally like the explanation in Aliens Genocide best, in which, on their own planet they were kept on check by other predators, but were an uncontrollable invasive species when removed from their homeworld.
  • @bicokun
I kind of like the idea of xenomorphs being naturally evolved, but it’s just an invasive species that goes wild outside its original habitat.

Sometimes when a daddy, xenomorph and a mommy xenomorph love each other very much. They lay down and give each other an extended hug.
  • @DewitticusBrett
I really wish that they would make an entire movie about the origins of the Engineers. Who they were, why and how they made us and what exactly happened to them. I'd absolutely love it.
  • I could happily watch and absorb xenomorph/alien lore for hours, so thx for this...
  • In the absence of a queen, drones begin to evolve into one. The laying of an egg releases a pheremone which halts the evolution of all other xenos. All partially evolved xenos then become praetorians. This explains why praetorians increased size and royal head crests. They were on their way to becoming queens.

Xenomorphs being the fermi paradox explanation is an idea I’ve had for years , so cool that you mention it!
  • @Shamanfrydify
I think because of the nature of Xenomorphs being able to take DNA from other species, we really could have a situation where every theory regarding their abilities is correct. Such as each of the hive mind theories that were presented at the end of this video. That is the fun thing about the series. The horror of trying to figure out what these monsters can do as you root for the hero to try and survive the onslaught.

I still don’t like the idea of xenomorphs being created by david the android because that origin is just stupid and makes no sense whatsoever at least in my opinion.
  • @Booth81
I don't think David actually created the Xenomorphs. He was experimenting with what was already there. I think he found the eggs, and they didn't react to him, with him being an android. He obviously wanted humans to experiment on, which is what happened in Covenant. I think he's simply replicating what engineers made. This wasn't explained very well in the film. Probably because Ridley Scott has a habit of cutting things that don't need to be cut from his films. Prometheus, Gladiator, and Legend are all prime examples.

I don't mind mysteries in a franchise one bit. I think that can be really cool. The issue I have with a lot of the things listed here is the only reason they are mysteries at all is because of the amount of retconing that happened between the various movie series, games and comics to try and incorporate new ideas. The writers (rightfully) realized that if the xenomorphs were just a wasp-like mindless force of nature then every proceeding story would be some slight variation of Alien or Aliens.

The xenomorph Mural in Prometheus shows The Deacon. In "The Furious Gods: The Making of Prometheus" it states it as so. When watching chapter 6 "Demons in the Dark" there is an Enhancement video that details this. Apparently David did and did not create the Xenomorphs, he replicated and perfected what the Engineers have already done with their biochemical weapon The Deacon. When wiping out a planetoid, an Engineer would sacrifice himself to a Trilobite and The Deacon would be born to eradicate all non-botanical life. This act echoes when an Engineer would sacrifice himself to create life. The Deacon is a purer form of the Xenovirus/Black Goo/Accelerant as opposed to the "diluted" Xenomorph. The Engineers would worship these creatures of death. Also, The Deacon was the missing link that would tie Prometheus and Alien.

I just love how these types of things are fleshed out over the years because we all know when rid was originally designing them you know he was just like “I wanna make something that looks scary and original” and didn’t think of a backstory at all 😂
  • @YoungClarke
The black goo being a way the Engineers both create and destroy life is honestly such a cool concept. It makes the xenomorph (or something very akin to it) both a weapon and also something akin to sacred. Creator and destroyer, Prometheus and Covenant have their issues, but I find so much of what they did fascinating. Ridley’s exploration of the Engineers and their culture is something I still crave more of
  • @verlandes1
My head cannon is that the engineers name for the black goo was Shub-Niggurath and that it is in fact a deity.
  • @bucky2900
Strange, the mosaic in Prometheus depicted a xenomorph on the wall of the goo room. Big the final form of the xeno was already known, then David didn't create them, he rebuilt them through years of experimentation on all life on that planet using shaw as the basis due to her previous exposure.
  • @JJjjJJjjJJ28
Alien covenant kind of ruined the entire franchise but it was heavily implied that the Xenos were a biological weapon possibly created by the Engineers to control populations. It was much better when everything was implied
  • David didn't wipe out the engineer race, he wiped out a race made by the engineers, they just resemble the engineers more than the humans do.
