Thanks, Julia for all the insight you provide on Dimash's performances. You commented on the "silent breath." One thing I like about Dimash is his ability to use the sound of his intake of breath as a component of the emotion he is conveying to reinforce the plaintive nature of the particular section of the song that he is in. You'll hear him breathe when he wants you to, but if it doesn't serve to assist him in elevating the emotion in his performance, nothing is heard. It seems each performance by Dimash is a master class in dynamics.

Your comments about silent breath made me smile, thinking of Lara Fabian. She sang this song, with the same pianist / composer, "Maestro" Igor Krutoy. Dimash holds great admiration for Lara and she has been an inspiration to him. She has beautiful tone, impeccable technique, outstanding breath control and provides captivatingly emotional performances. Lara is, in my opinion, one of the greatest contemporary singers in the world. (I generally dislike statements like that, but they really apply to people like Lara and Dimash.) While I'm sure she is capable of silent breath, Lara actually uses breath to great effect in conveying emotion, and it forms an integral part of her performances. She sometimes seems to teeter on the edge of breaking down and crying, while somehow still maintaining perfect control. Please react to Ti Amo Cosi, a beautiful performance featuring Russian Opera singer Aida Garifullina, Lara Fabian and Dimash — with Igor at the piano. I'm sure you will also get a lot of requests for Lara's earlier work, which is incredible. Igor also wrote Ogni Pietra specifically for Dimash. You have already received multiple requests for that one. It will blow you away.

Great reaction! That 16 second belt of a single note at the end seems to go on forever, doesn't it? It's long, but the 23 second RUN at the end of Sinful Passion still blows my mind every time I hear it. There are 4 levels of singers: Good/Better/Best... or... Beginner/Average/Expert... and then there's Dimash.
