Just to be clear regarding FPS. My FPS is fine for the majority of a race but at the start with all the cars visible it drops. I could lower the graphics settings and get a consistent 165fps, but as I mentioned in the video that's not my priority right now 😁
  • @dannyleeracing
I swapped from triple screens to a single 34" ultrawide and I make sure it doesn't affect me by always being in the lead
  • @mjbrtn1192
As a single screen racer on PS5 I found this really interesting but what makes me want to give you kudos the most is your stance on the never never. For young impressionable people watching, being an advocate for staying out of debt is a great message. 👌

Top marks for transparency Dave. I use a single 24” monitor and it’s fine. Cars to the side? That’s what Crew Chief (or the stock spotter) is for.

Hi Dave, Thanks for this short segment. It sort of put my ADHD/anxiety brain at ease. In whatever I do I'm constantly battling with myself with the question of "is what I have enough?" I just started racing on a PC platform, having made the jump from console and I was worried that being on a single monitor might be limiting my experience and that I needed to somehow find more money to upgrade yet again. I'm gonna take your advice and enjoy the drive with what I have. Cheers, mate!
  • @FourEaredFoxHD
You're not a true sim racer if you get caught up in what other people are enjoying using.
  • @carlosmancuso
I've been eagerly anticipating this explanation for a while. It's crystal clear now. Thank you, Dave
  • @KeithHeard
I appreciate the openness and honesty.

Yes! I just made this switch myself. But from triple 24s to a 43 inch TV. It's simplified everything! And since I have head tracking and use Racelab's radar, I still race just as well (or badly 😂😂). And 4k visuals with all that vertical fov is immersive in a different way to triples. Some day, I'd like a beast PC and triple 32s or larger, but for now, I'm very happy.

I appreciate the honesty! I am building my rig as we speak and I also decided to go single screen although a buddy of mine and the person who got me into Sim racing has triples. The single just seems more practical and better suits my needs.

Finally an explanation i was waiting for, cant wait to watch it after work
  • I like the cocoon feeling of the triple screen. I raced for years on single and didn't care, honestly the pedals and wheelbase are way more important.
  • @doug_vickers
Nothing wrong with single screen sim racing Dave. It's all I have used for the last 3 or so years. Yes it is a little more awkward when racing side by side going into a turn but you soon learn to leave enough space for the other car. I know how expensive it can be to upgrade a PC as I have just built a new one myself. It wasn't a small amount but if I had bought it pre built it would have cost a fortune for the spec I have. Keep up the great content. 👍

Makes sense. Thanks for explanations, Dave!

I would never give out my VR. I got a 49” ultra wide as desktop monitor but even that wont cut it. 3090rtx has ran everything for me past years really well. Hp reverb g2 is just amazing!
  • @tacosmoothie
I haven't tried triples yet, but I do love my 42" OLED ~30" from the screen! Still tons of immersion and a cleaner look and feel to the room.
  • @MontgomeryScotty
Yep, me too. Had triples for many years, then got one 50 inch OLED and never looked back. I use Trackir and it just works. No issues with cars next to me, I just look over.
  • @youngyingyang
Hi @DaveCamTY. I've done the same thing. Sold 3 monitors, and bough the LG super ultra-wide extra curved 1000R with HDR and never been happier. It's easier to setup, much better FPS, 144 hz consistent, and more importantly, I can now mount the single monitor DIRECTLY onto my motion rig drastically increasing immersion.
  • @02stampede
I used to have triples, took a break from sim racing and sold them. Getting back into it now I use a 42" LG C2. The large 4K OLED panel does look really nice! I'm not in a rush to go out and buy triples again but I plan to at some point.

What I always enjoyed when I used a single 55” tv was the sense of scale you get from the interior of the vehicle. On smaller screen everything in the car feels smaller than it should, even if you have the correct FoV.
