  • Hell of an accomplishment. Howard Hughes would have loved you for it. Great tribute to the machine and the man.

In over 30 years of professional RC Plane building, I have seen some very impressive flights. This, my friend, is out of the world. Not only the model itself, but the way this beauty is flown is also absolutely impressive. The slow wide turns, the long and slow landing approaches are 100% scale. Wow is all I can say before I get to the net and check out some blueprints. Congratulations to this big badass model you have there, I absolutely love it! Well done Sir!!!

Howard ( if he was watching) he would be thinking"...even now that baby can still fly", smiling with pride!

I got to see the real Spruce Goose back in 1982 in Long beach, California. This was very special to me- gettig up close, being able to go inside and look around. But, seeing this flying scale model just made my day ! I am really happy for you folks! This is an accomplishment to be proud of ! My hat is off to all of you !
  • I've seen it in person several times; your rendering of the plane is visually correct. The forms and curves are not easy to replicate in scale. And then you've selected music to fit the vid and not overpower it in volume; terrific! Finally, the damn thing flies like an angel and whoever is piloting it puts it on the water cleanly. Take a bow!

This video may be a few years old but I still love watching it. Genius is as genius does...
  • @davidaustin2172
Only one thing to say........ quite stunning. Be proud of yourself for this creation!
  • @albshore8
The RC model flew longer than the original..good going....
  • @BanzaiBurn
My grandfather worked on the starboard wing engines on the real plane after recovering fron injuries recieved at the attack on Pearl Harbor. Thank you for remembering their hard work and creative vision.
  • @rcytb
Perfect! The Spruce Goose flies at last! Well done. My uncle saw the first " flight" from a Navy ship. He would have enjoyed this.
  • @oldricky
Well done! Not only can I appreciate the construction and the flight controls/mechanisms, but the research and work that went into the 'engines', props, battery(s) and their weight distribution. Two thumbs up boys! She is a beauty indeed! By the way, love the rendition of "After You've Gone" by Loudon Wainwright III from "The Aviator". All class!

I got a lump in my throat watching this H-4 fly, outstanding to the modelers who built this and flew it. Spruce Goose Bruce

I worked with Dave Grant, the co-pilot on the flight. The day before the Goose was sold to the Wrather corporation, he took a group of us down to play on her. We got to climb into Howard's chair and see the horizon indicator painted on the windscreen, got to climb up into the tail, and even walk out into the wings. You could have played basketball inside them. Oddly none of us brought a camera. Such a great memory and this video brought some of the grandeur of her back to me. Very very cool and I think the music really made it that much more majestic.

I think Howard would be PROUD of you & what you've accomplished.
  • In 1969 I worked for two years for the Hughes Tool Company in Culver City, Calif. I was building HOL helicopters in the hanger they build the Hercules. There were photo all around the place and it was awesome to work in the place there that plane was built. Seeing this model of the Hercules fly gives me goosebumps. Truly beautiful what you have done. I doubt most people can appreciate the work, hundreds of hours of design, planning, construction the went into this project. I do and cannot give you enough credit. Thank you so much for sharing . Best, David Rose of Vermont, USA
  • @oilkann
You Sir are one heck of a pilot, magnificent RC plane.
  • @tomjoseph6057
I worked for the Hughes Aircraft Company in the late 70's and 80's and have had the pleasure of being on the original Spruce Goose.  This made me proud!  Well Done!!!
  • @wrmurrow
Thank you for building such a beautiful flying model of the H-4 Hercules! I wish my father, Richard Barzen Murrow, was still alive to see this, since he would have really enjoyed it. He, as Chief Aerodynamicist, led the design team on the project.

Someone probably commented already… Howard looking down smiling watching his creation flying gracefully .
