Never in my life would I have ever thought I’d be listening to the secret history wink wink of Tannins and be so engaged. Maybe I am turning into my father or maybe you just did such an exemplary job at giving us all that information. This stuff fascinating though.
  • @fastforward3695
When my girlfriend said she was bringing home the classroom Beta I had no idea it would lead to me learning the history of tannins. Great stuff man!
  • @LostLeftyLimb
Dude I can not understate how stoked I am I found your channel. Such awesome info.
  • @KoroWerks
I was just reading about African annual killifish, and how the smectites in the soil and botanical components(root link between tannin and botanical?) Affect whether the eggs will hatch or not, and most US states have areas with vernal ponds, even if there aren't "fish" that doesn't mean the fairy shrimp and triops and salamanders don't rely on similar soil and tannin compositions as well. Thank you for drawing attention to this often overlooked aspect of the hobby, Tannins and botanicals can be more than just aesthetic choices for your tank.
  • @shesellsfish
I've always dropped dried yard leaves into my tanks. Such a great understanding you just gave of what all they do and why. Your research is always impeccable and in depth. Merry Christmas my friend. 👍💖👍
  • @tinadoyle3803
I love tannins i put lief and bog in my rams tank. Love them.
  • Excellent video Alex. Do you ever get wonder about what processes or secrets that are happening in our aquariums that we have no clue about or haven’t discovered yet ? I recently watched one of your videos about the history going back through the ages , and it made me realize we are still only in the infancy of keeping fish in aquariums.
  • @bignubles
Thanks to this video I've now made a jar of tannins to add to my new 10 gallons from time to time to keep my fish healthy. I love your videos, I don't see ego in your videos just the need to share info. Thanks brother

Science and knowledge is better than any youtube channel. Although I like FF, he usually talks about the same thing over and over. He has alot of experience and he talks from experience, but the details are kind of missing. I can listened for hours of your videos like a podcast and everything is something new to learn.
  • @andyscott350
Amazing video dude. Mind blown, and more deeper dives for myself.
  • @AlpacaMade
I'm looking at my bag of freshly fallen Oak leaves with more affection than my Catappa leaves now. Thanks, Alex👍
  • @tara_james-bosch
Setting up a blackwater tank for Parosphromenus ornaticauda right now and this was so helpful! Thanks for the amazing resource :)
  • @lilcranked
I love that the tannins in my tank is natural to their habitat but if im honest its so hard to see their beauty because of how rich the tannins are i have to go looking for them by sitting on the floor to look up into the tank 🙈
  • I very much appreciate your videos. Great job! Very educational. Thanks!!
  • @danbutts1003
You rock! Thanks for going the extra mile. Have a Merry Christmas.
