Aside from Alinghi Red Bull Racing who had arrived in Jeddah well ahead of the other teams, few knew what to expect from the racing in the Saudi city for the second of the AC Preliminary Events. But after three days of spectacular racing and frequent shake ups on the race course there was one thing that was clear, the Jeddah event had taken the racing and teams into new territory and given everyone something to think about on their way home.

Road to 37th America's Cup is produced in association with Yanmar who commissioned this series.

Jeddah ? Sailing like golf, succumbs to big money from the Bone Saw thugs. Classy move Americas Cup.
  • It was some of the greatest sailing racing I have seen, I am really looking forward to the 37th AC! If the 36th and this preliminary race was anything to go by then I think we are in for a huge treat. I am also happy to see the AC back in monohulls.

Very good summary of the event - just a bit late?

I really enjoyed the racing, the wind conditions were very good. This class is much more exciting to watch than the SailGP nonsense which is now sailing around a bathtub with no wind. How that is going to be world class racing I don't know...

The fact that they struggle in a “short choppy sea state” and all you see is helmets means these boats are ridiculous.

Wouldn’t it be cool if they went back to real sailboats?

its now dull and boring there are no guys sailing a boat all u see is helmets that may not even have people in them its just a machine going round a course its dull the vicarios aspect of it is gone along with my interest in it
