I thought...this is not going to interest me ( a 73 yr. old. grandmother). Boy was I wrong, Art, you make everything so interesting. Love your channel and your family. I pray for you often.
  • Wonderful! My how that brought back memories. Years ago when we first moved on our farm, moving buildings, taking down old buildings and cleaning trash piles kept us busy for several years. Your doing a good job.

ART, I'm pleased to see you work on saving this shed!! About 50 years ago I watched an "old" man lift a small wooden garage that looked like this shed with just one of those jacks. He lifted it, built 3 low walls of stone, and straightened it out over several days. I kept checking in and have thought about him often as an example of yankee strength and thrift, skill. That was in Port Clyde, Maine. I had friends who were part of the back to the land movement in the 70s. Always wished I could have done it too,I but it wasn't ment to be. I live in western Massachusetts USA. Thanks.

Some might have just dismantled it or set it on fire, you show such respect for the man who built it, to save it, good show
  • "Wow, Art you made that look so easy, but I know it's extremely hard on the arms and knees hard work well done Blessings :)
  • Thanks for sharing your great bracing and prepping 👍 for the shed to be moved! I had a boyfriend that made a living moving buildings for a living. I was amazed how much bracing, taping windows and lifting it onto skids for the move. We had a mine that was quite active for years which was closed about 80-100yrs after opening. There was a company owned pub, postoffice/general store with 2&3 bedroom houses surrounding the main entrance. They had to clear the area so they put the 3bd house for $10,000 & 2bd for $5,000! The catch was you had to remove it by a deadline if not fines were added until either it was resold bc you couldn't fulfill your agreement or a forest co came demolished & removed the debris. I watched it maneuvered out of the mountains, thru winding narrow roads & brought to an undeveloped piece of land & left on bc wood and blocks so that plumbing etc could be installed. Our family got a 3bd & was moved about 40miles or so from it's spot. It made it perfectly in great condition not a broken window or a crack anywhere. That was 40yrs ago and still going strong with all the modern updates & withstood little kids growing up!!!!!

Arthur, I love your shed too my fingers are crossed for a safe gentle trip to its next resting place. Imagine the story that small building could tell. Continued safety to the whole family...
  • Glad you were able to get the skids under and fastened to the shed. I keep thinking the ground is too soft for it to slide though. Guess we'll find out out soon enough. Thanks for sharing this part of the job. Have a Blessed day.
  • I was glad to see you put braces underneath "in case"! When I was young, my daddy was underneath our car, working on it, and it fell on his chest.
