Is there more than one universe? In this visually rich, action-packed talk, Brian Greene shows how the unanswered questions of physics (starting with a big one: What caused the Big Bang?) have led to the theory that our own universe is just one of many in the "multiverse."

20:05 "Sometimes, nature guards her secrets with the unbreakable grip of physical law." Beautiful.
  • Never ever have I watched such a beautiful engaging Ted talk. Honestly it was the best talk ever. The way he presented everything was even more beautiful. Even I believe in the multiverse theory but then it makes us question everything we already know . It puts to test all our beliefs The universe is truly a mystery and so are we.

    god I love theoretical physics!!!

I have read lots of books and seen lectures on theoretical physics but clearly he is the best. His books and presentation akes me want to switch my major from medicine to physics ..
  • stuff like this makes me tear up because of how little we understand

This is really freaky. That would mean we cant exist outside the bounds of our own universe, since we are made like a programm that works only on that particular machine. It would mean that everything is bound to its own universe and simply cant exist anywhere else. This is kinda depressing, there goes the idea of traveling to one lol.
  • Humanity is capable of incredible thoughts and scientific achievements despite being a breakable, fragile form of life, limited by our physical form to live in a very small spot in the universe and for a very short time.

Given that we don't even know how large our own universe is I can't imagine there NOT being a multiverse
  • I fact that I find Physics hard and that for the first time I understood it so well without feeling dizzy, is just mind boggling.

Imagine in future there are no stars twinkling but only darkness and ppl may be thinking stars don't exist because they never saw them

Tesla once said everything can be thought of as vibration, frequency and energy.I can relate it to this video

Prof Brian Greene is a brilliant and engaging speaker. Recently I read his book The Elegant Universe. The book, though dated by now, goes far deeper into the subject. It is a good introduction to Relativity theories,Quantum Mechanics Standard Model and Super String Theories.

I love this speech. I've watched it many times. It's absolutely fantastic.

Human lifespan feels like a blink when we think to explore the universe

We need more people like Brian Greene and Neil deGrasse Tyson , those bring science into a non science public in an understandable way! That's what people , especially children needs !
