I really appreciate how you market your own brand. "I like mine, but here's how you can do it cheaper if you like." You don't find that mindset very often. Keep up the great work, Luke.

I thought WTF, when you were applying the “luminous” moss effect. But once dry, it looks fantastic. I’m definitely going to be using that.
  • @SuperStiffla
From the DIY wash videos to this you always knock it out of the park. Thanks for the awsome hobby content.
  • @erikbattles
I really like the final look of that moss paint and I had no idea the effect could be created so easily. I have some of your green foam scatter already so I'll definitely be trying it out at some point

I've been using poundshop brown acrylic frame sealant mixed with sand and a little water as a basing texture for a few years now. For stony ground I add some bird grit into the mix; for swamp terrain bases I added some black paint to darken it and some dried herbs to give the impression of rotting vegetation.
  • My favorite is the moss, I need to do a project where I can use this one. I love making my own products at home, I actually watched your how to make sculptamold the other week and am making a huge batch for a fraction of the cost compared to store bought. Thanks for that!

When someone who sells these products gives you directions bro make your own.... makes me want to buy more of your stuff due to the honesty this shows. Cheers

Great stuff; thanks for sharing. That moss paint looks especially cool.
  • Love the snow! Some of us do not do gaming models or terrain, but rather Christmas villages. The snow was exactly what I was looking for. Your subs are more than gamers. Thanks so much!
  • @Gruggy_Prime
thanks for essentially reuploading the higher production quality of the mud video. i went looking for it about a year ago and couldnt find it and have been guessing on how it was done ever since. cheers!
  • I've found that egg shells can make for really cool bases as well. I take the egg shells, put them in a jar with a lid (usually it's a Homepride Pasta bake jar 😂) and shake until I get the size I want. Then I mix the egg shell with P.V.A. glue and slap it on the base. Prime, paint. Done. If I'm after a pointy ground effect I wait for the glue to dry a bit then place some larger bits of egg shell where I want them. It's an interesting look.

Really appreciate your effort and honesty in this video. You didn't hesitate to say "well this is good for terrain, but I'd still use THIS for a model". Helps clear up the value in both products. I really needed this as I'm about to do a display board for Legion and need a mud texture. This'll save me a ton of cash, thanks Luke!

A while back, my local Michaels had some "non-slip grit additive" in a jar, for a big discount. I experimented with it in texture paint. It worked pretty well, mixed with PVA and paint. I also added some fairly large grit sand, for added texture. I've mostly done it as texture prior to priming models, but it worked decently well on its own from my experiments. I've also acquired a kind of snow effect paste ("Snow-Tex" from DecoArt), but I haven't yet tried it out.

I’ve learnt more from your channel and am just getting in to 1/35 scale model but the tips are absolutely amazing that’s why I was keep popping back to watch your videos and I subscribed
  • Yes Luke! This is why I subbed back in the Yoshi in the attic days! KILLED IT
  • This was an awesome video. I'm just starting out and this was very helpful. I'm going to try all of these

Basically whatever you do just don't buy citadel and it's fine. Agrellan earth is 7.80€ for 24 ML pot and GSW Mojave Mudcrack is about 5.50€ for 60 ML bottle. There's very little difference in performance but GSW doesn't chip off as easily so it's little bit better. Vallejo texture paints are far more durable than citadel ones and come in 200ml tubs which cost about 9.50€. 24ml bottle of Astrogranite is 7.80€ so you get about 8 times more texture paint for same amount of money when buying Vallejo.

What I love most about your videos is the motivation and inspiration they give me to work on terrain
