Subnautica has been continuedly suggested to me for such a long time so I finally decided to do my first playthrough! I didn't realize so many were afraid of the ocean and it's depths. I'm not scared of the ocean, but I wonder if I will be after this playthrough. Do you have thalassophobia? Here is part 1 of my Subnautica Let's Play.

This Subnautica Let's Play was streamed on Twitch and I tried editing out all the alerts. There is some chat interaction, but I tried to keep it not too intrusive. Hope you don't mind!

I play horror games quite often and i discovered through subnautica that i may actually have thalassophobia, i can deal with Amnesia and company, but the fear Subnautica uses is something that is really difficult to describe, because it's not just oh it's the deep ocean and the unknown of what may lie down there, Subnautica delivers in that wonder.

I do highly recommend switching to survival, when you play in freedom you don't have to worry about food or water and nothing can hurt you. Kind of ruins the fear factor of the game
  • I love watching people experience subnautica for the first time 😅 I recently started playing the game for myself instead of just watching everyone else all the time because it's so damn scary 😭 lol

"Hey kid, do you have a crippling fear of the ocean? No. Do you want to?"
  • @NapalmKid
I'm willing to bet everyone swims through the coral tubes for fun.

Awesome to see a first time player that fills up their inventory with seed clusters rather than acid mushrooms. It's almost always acid mushrooms. lol

    6:19 that’s not a planet, that’s planet 4546b’s moon. You’re on 4546b.

I'm sitting here the whole time thinking, how long until she discovers the hatch in the floor... 😂

Subnautica is only scary if you let it scare you. I'm thalassemiaphobic, which means I'm afraid of deep water, but games are different than the real world, yet when I played this, it was crazy how my senses and eyesight to this game almost gave me the "real" feeling of deep water. But the deeper I went, it was a video game as I saw the alienistic features so it went opposite as if I went from 1700 meters to 2 meters to surface in a flash. So yeah, Subnautica is a fun game to play!
  • I was looking for a subnautica playtrough and stumbled upon your video, I already love this I hope you keep playing subnautica because I look forward to watching all of your videos. :))

Badass. As you get the ability to go deeper in this game ir becomes more horror. But it does depend how afraid you are of sea creatures, darkness, confined spaces, and the ocean in general. I did get scared a number of times. But then when you head back to the shallows its happy fun time again. Really enjoy your videos please keep going!

2:10 I have the awnser to your question, PDA stands for personal device assistant. Creatures have a lot of uses and abilities, crabsquids with E.M.P. Pulses, Warner’s with space-bending precursor tech as a heart, gasopods poisoning predators etc. the pda helps tell you abilities and uses the aliens have so you can be prepared if you’ve scanned that creature
