I grew up in a Northern BC small town, in British Columbia (Canada). In 92, I was in my last year in High School. And I watched in awe, the Seattle music scene blow up. A great time for music, 92-94. Watching this documentary brings back some great memories, and a few sad memories.

"Touch me i'm sick" is a message the world desperately needs to hear right now.

It was really hard being a 14 year old, a huge music fan, forced to live in the Bible Belt while all of this was going on. It felt like Seattle was on another planet. All I had was MTV & magazines to try and stay in touch with what was happening on another planet. Still though, it was an awesome time to be a kid.

85-95 was the greatest decade of music ever.

I remember listening to Pearl Jam's "Ten" at my best friend's house for the first fime when it came out. We were in the suburbs of Cincinnati, preteen status and deprived of cultural enrichment. Then Grunge brought me from baseball and video games to music, guitar, girls, debauchery and a platform to contend with the young adult world. And who remembers listening to Alice In Chains' album "Dirt" for the first time with headphones and having the opening bars of "Them Bones" scare the piss out of you like a dream with Michael Myers.

Some really cool footage in this film. The Gits were a nice surprise. RiP Mia. What a voice she had.
  • I met Art Chantry when I was in art school, and he had a huge influence on my entire approach to graphic design. Cool dude.

I loved Mudhoney. I saw them twice in Cincinnati. The second time they were playing a small venue called Sudsy Malones, a combination laundromat/ music venue. I walked in early carrying my cover to the vinyl My Brother The Cow. There was hardly anyone there yet, and there was Mark Arm playing pinball. I asked him for an autograph and he introduced me to the whole band, and I got all of their autographs. During the show I was directly in front of Matt Lukin. He kept knocking over his mic stand and I kept picking it up for him. I lobbed jokes at him too. I yelled, play "Jeremy!" , and he played the opening riff. Another time I sad, "I've always wanted to see Iggy And The Stooges." He pointed and looked directly at me and said, "I get that." One of the unforgettable highlights of my life.

it was basically punk, but American punk, it really finished glam/hair metal off and buried them forever

It was the music so many of us had been waiting for. A truly amazing time to be alive and into it. Nevermind came out two days after my seventeenth birthday and, for a lot of people, that was when it all kicked off. In the UK however, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Tad, Mudhoney et al were already a pretty big deal. But you could tell that something properly earth shattering was in the process of happening. From god awful pap like Cherry Pie to Jesus Christ Pose in the space of six months! 1991 has to be one of the greatest ever years for music. Bloody good times. I miss them.
  • I LOVE THIS DOCUMENTARY. In 6th/7th grade I found this. At this time DVR was a dream. I had to be like a hawk to find it, grab a tape and hit rec.

I've had the soundtrack cd since '96, and I always wondered who the hell is that guy on the cover with earplugs up his nose. Now I know that, and a bunch of other stuff as well! Thanks for making this available, great stuff!
