Shaun of the Dead! The first in Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg's Cornetto Trilogy. I guess you gotta throw Nick Frost in there too. Much requested, excited to break it down this week. Here's everything right with Shaun of the Dead!

I love how the ending is literally just 'yeah, the Army showed up and sorted it' something almost every other zombie film says will never happen.

Sooo, does this mean we're heading into "Everything Great about Hot Fuzz" soon?
  • @pinktribble
When Brits say, "What's that supposed to mean?", we're actually inviting the person to be even more antagonistic, so we can punch them in the face. 😀

Fun fact: Every person that brings up shaun having red on him becomes a zombie

More points because the “He’s not my boyfriend” “Thanks babe” lines are a callback from Spaced
  • Point of order: a "prang" is a very minor accident; a scratch or a dent. In this case it's being used in the "just a fleshwound" sense, as we tend to do.

A win you might not pick up on if you aren't British/don't know many older British people is how hilariously accurate Barbara and Phillip are. "I've run it under cold water" and "i didn't want to cause a fuss" are both absolutely my dad and nannas reactions to being bit by a zombie respectively

Best zombie movie in history, now let's a grab a pint and wait for this pandemic to blow over

I literally cannot hear "Don't Stop Me Now" now without picturing hitting zombies with sticks. It's embedded in my brain.
  • Fun fact: Simon Pegg and Nick Frost did a skit together recreating their plan to go to the pub but it was for toilet paper (it was made when everyone was joking that toilet paper would run out). It was great.

you missed a line after philip died, where shaun said that he wasn't his dad, but corrected himself and said that he wasn't his dad ANYMORE, showing that he finally accepted him as his father. it was touching.

"Fellas, is it gay to love your ex-girlfriend?" I just about died laughing
  • I cannot tell you how excited/happy I am right now! Don't be forgetting Hot Fuz and World's End now will ya?

The most depressing thing about the ending bar scene is the fact that all of shauns friends died asides from liz, right before the military arrived to save them. If they made the right choices they would've probably be all alive.

The funniest scene in the whole movie was when the reanimated zombie was still using a wheelchair. That was such a brilliant idea. It went by so fast that one could have easily missed it. I almost choked on my popcorn.
  • I can't help but mention Edgar Wright's brilliance. Every movie he's directed, I've loved. This is one of his greatest masterpieces.

Bill Nighy's deliver of "I ran it under a cold tap!" never fails to make me laugh.

9:52 And twenty years later I get the joke: the driver of the Knight Bus in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was "Ernie Prang."
