About I Am Shauna Rae:
Shauna Rae may look like a child, but she desperately wants to be treated like an adult. I Am Shauna Rae follows Shauna as she navigates the extraordinary challenge of trying to live a normal adult life despite her appearance. Diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer at six months old, Shauna’s treatment allowed for remission, but resulted in a side effect no one predicted – she stopped growing. The chemotherapy made her pituitary gland almost dormant, leaving Shauna with a childlike appearance and standing at only 3 feet and 10 inches tall-- the average size of an 8-year-old. Except, Shauna is 22.

  • The moment the doctor said no to the MRI, she needed to start looking for another neurologist. My wife was not referred for an MRI that could have saved her life when she was having migraines. She died a few months later from a massive stroke; she was only 41. The public must start demanding routine use of this lifesaving diagnostic scan.
  • 6:21 Shauna says it perfectly! Her mom has got to stop with the worrying out loud! Shauna needs for her mom to be a constant source of hope and reassurance… not someone who is constantly reminding her of worst case scenarios. It’s not about her. This is about Shauna.

I wish her mom could let go of the guilt she has with shauna. ❤️

Ive watched a few clips of this show, and shes a unique person. She either acts like a child, is rude to people, or talks like an adult who wants to be treated like one. It must be tough being in her position but a lot of her behaviour reminds me of a child. The only time I can tell shes an adult is when she does private interviews on the couch. And tbh i dont want this to sound wrong, but i think shes a very pretty girl. She has really pretty eyes, i feel bad knowing dating will be a tricky one here

Her mom seems like such a great mom. Good thing she has family and friends to help encourage her!

As a mom of a daughter with brain cancer, Shauna's mom has every right to be worried with her having migraines consistently

Shauna is very confident and she’s strong she’s amazing

I think people can be so insensitive to people like Shauna. She is 22 years old. She isn't 8. Her personality is amazing. I love her attitude about her condition and she seems like such a funny person.
  • Everytime I watch Shauna’s videos I develop so much Empathy for her She is such a trooper

As a 30yr with severe tension migraine headaches every single day, and my mri coming back normal I COMPLETELY understand her worry, frustration, concern, being scared. Having a constant pain in your brain literally day and night that doesn't go away no matter what you do, and taking medication does not work, it's scary!! I hope all works out well for her. 😊

Makes me so heart Broken to hear she thinks she did something wrong. That’s not true at all
  • I definitely agree with the diet aspect of this trigger migraines. I used to suffer from such bad migraines, they would last for several days. Then I became an adult, got a job and bought myself better food as well as vitamins. I can honestly say I am almost completely migraine free now at 31. High salts, processed foods, junk foods, etc play a big role in many of our problems. Edit : please don't put words in my mouth, I never said or suggested that diet change will cure all. Im explaining my experience. It may not be the same as yours. Im not a doctor, please see one if needed.
  • I swear I felt Shauna’s frustration with the doctor appointment the whole time. I honestly felt so bad cause the stuff they were telling her to maybe fix and adjust to help her migraines is the exact thing doctors tell me about my severe mental illness and it’s hard to believe that they feel that those three fixes can change much with completely different cases. Makes me question doctors more and more not gonna lie so don’t feel bad for being frustrated at doctors shauna cause tbh you aren’t being put to just and you deserve peace and independence

I’m so sorry your dad hit you on the head but that part was funny 🤣

Wow, when the mom started to cry as she was explaining how she's wondered if she had done something wrong that her daughter got cancer at 6 months, it made me start to cry. As a mom myself with one adult son and raising my teenage daughter, I can't imagine how difficult it would be to find out if one of your kids had cancer.
  • @timothy6966
Strong mom. Overprotective, but you can hardly blame her given the situation. Must have been hell going through that.
  • @steverinaldi890
It’s hard as a parent to not carry that burden but she did nothing wrong. My ex wife and I didn’t realize we were both recessive carriers of Gaucher and have to our children. Very sad but we as parents can’t carry that guilt if we didn’t know.

I'm not sure how long ago her most recent scan was, but if I was a person who survived brain cancer and I noticed an uptick in migraines out of the blue.... I would've requested a new scan, just to be sure.
