My Face Paint Kit and Rolling Cart Storage

Published 2013-02-18
Behind the Scenes peek into my face painting kit, what I use as well as mini reviews on products, paints, and rolling tote storage for paint kit and glitter tattoo kit as well!

Apologies for shaky video...This is my first one ever, and trying to talk while unpacking and setting up with one hand, and video taping with the other turned out to be a little tricky!! For future videos I now have a trusty tripod (;))

Many brushes and supplies can be found at Michaels and/or Hobby Lobby, etc.
(Face Paints are not 'paint' but cosmetic grade make up...never use acrylics or other craft paints on the skin! A face paint business takes some investing but having safe and professional supplies is well worth it!!)

very nice and heartfelt video..showing nuts and bolts of your transport and set up.. I've been a professional facepainter..for many years. .vitamin relied on my artistic ability. .and.never really worked at it..as I have had a full-time job since 1996.however I've seen my fellow face painters up their game with all the one stroke and spilt cakes. .etc..and i was still using snazzaroo..for many colors and a cheap cosmetic carry for tools..I'm starting to up my game .and using split cakes are very different techniques. Thanks aga8n! .

Thank you and look forward to more videos. We all have to start somewhere and can always learn from each other

Makes me want to run out and get paint! Awesome kit!
  • I have to order some new colors before I make more splits, and I probably won't be making more of that size...BUT...basically you just cut rows of colors and press them in. I used the Wolfe Palette and cut them up while they were still new, so they were already the right size, just swapping out strips into a square with other color combos. (Red, orange, yellow, white: for flames) (dark green, lt green, yellow, white: for leaves/snakes) (Red, pink, white: for roses) etc. Hope that helps for now!
  • miniperez69 I do keep the lids off in the laptop cases (which I got at Silly Farm.com)....I keep a washcloth over the top of all the cakes before I close the case, just to absorb any random drips and keep them a little more secure. Some people secure theirs with Velcro or magnets. Works for me so far, the only issue I have is sometimes at outdoor events if I am doing glitter tattoos and if it is windy, glitter gets ont he cakes and that can be hard to clean up. But it saves so much time with set up and clean up.

Thanks for sharing! Can you post a video showing how you make your split cakes??? I have a few of the rectangular wolfe pallets that are almost empty, and I would love to learn how to reuse them! Thanks!
  • As stated in comments...I know the camera work is awful. This was my 1st bid and I wanted to show the set up and how long it takes...doing that one handed while holding my can with the other hand...well...less than perfect (:)) but if you get past the zoomy shakyness hopefully there is something useful, especially if you are just getting started and not sure what to buy or how to organize a kit. I have a tripod now so future videos will be much easier on the eyes! Promise!!!
  • @joancichon
    I use a hard plastic tool case from Lowe's - $35.00

Dizzy.... I think I'm carsick from watching the camera move around so quick! *wooo* thank you for sharing!!
  • @miniperez69
WONDERFUL, QUESTION: DO YOU KEEP THE CAKES AND PAINTS WITHOUT THE LID?
  • @joancichon
Camera is too close to see what you are demonstrating.
