Chicago is an American rock band formed in 1967 in Chicago, Illinois. The self-described "rock and roll band with horns" began as a politically charged, sometimes experimental rock band and later moved to a predominantly softer sound, generating several hit ballads. They had a steady stream of hits throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Singer Peter Cetera left the band in 1985 and started a successful solo career.

In 1969 CTA performed "I'm a Man" live at the Beat Club in Bremen Germany! In 2012 they returned for a live tour.

Original Chicago man. This is one of my all time favorites. There's a ton of people that doesn't even know the real Chicago.

I have nothing against the power ballads in the 80s that made them all wealthy. But when I tell people that Chicago is one of my top 2 favorite bands and they start telling me about those ballads I say "wait a minute, let me show you some footage of them 15 years before those songs".

Early Chicago was unlike anything else on the radio. And Terry Kath, what a monster talent. He was gone way too soon.
  • Danny Seraphines drumming is just insane!!So much talent right here!! Craaaaazy!!!!

For those of us who are old enough to remember ( yeah I'm 70 now), for those of us who listened to this band, we can almost be unanimous in saying that at the time, Terry Kath was one of the most talented, creative, and driven rock guitarists on the scene. Damn, he died too young and so senselessly. Had he stuck around......whknows, Hendrix, Page, Alvin Lee, all of them would have offered their seat to him.

The older you get, the more you realize that time goes by way too quickly. A sad reality. Love these old bands.
  • As a teenager in that period (1966-75), whenever this came onto the radio---I just stopped anything I was doing and dug it. That and "Beginnings" were absolutely awesome.

In many ways, this was the greatest rock band. They had multiple star lead singers like the Eagles. They had the most talented horn section. They had a brilliant drummer/percussionist like Cream and the Hendrix experience. And they had their own Hendrix clone with a voice like Ray Charles. Who was also a brilliant leader. So much talent on that stage it could have combusted.
  • I bought this album, I was 15-- I am now 67-- this is my #1 all time favorite album-- I still play CTA -- damm-- those were the good old days πŸ˜‰

My ALL TIME FAVORITE album is Chicago's VERY FIRST: Chicago Transit Authority. I first heard Chicago's music that Spring of '70 at the tender age of 11. My big brother Michael brought the album home and played it on our stereo and I was as they say, "hooked." My brother was ALWAYS bringing home good music such as Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Rolling Stones, Sugar Loaf, Sly Stone, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Cold Blood etc...This is how I was introduced to GOOD music 🎡🎢 My big Brother passed away February 2022, I miss him.

Just look at the absolute joy of playing music in these fantastic musicians faces. Beautiful thing to witness. Doing what they love and great at it. This has to be one of greatest performances of anyone.

One of my top 10 albums of all time. I'm 70 BTW. My Mom and Dad took me to see Elvis when I was two in 1955. I sat in Patsy Cline's lap in 1960. Then after enduring years of country, on February 9th 1964, the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan. I remember That was Sunday and Monday Dad was going to take me to get a haircut. I hide under the bed...

Real musicians playing real music, passionately and well.
  • This when rock was real, raw and not refined. You got it live and could feel the energy from each one. Even the cow bell steady beat became this song's heart. We have all grown old and love the past. Peace everyone.
  • One of the greatest bands to come out the 1970’s in America.πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»
