Here's an ITV docu from 2003 about the kids from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory and what became of them in adulthood. This is not the docu that's included on DVD and Bluray versions of the film.

This docu is more substantial than the typical ATWF episode. I was quite surprised by it and regretted not taping it at the time. I was pleased to got hold of a copy many years later, so here it is.

  • in the remake, they should have honored the original child actors by making them the parents who go with the new child actors to the factory. THAT would have been awesome
  • Unfortunately Denise Nickerson (Violet) passed away a couple years ago. Such a great loss to the original cast. Rest in Peace Denise 🙏
  • RIP: Roald Dahl, the genius behind the story. Gene wilder - Willy wonka. Jack Albertson - Grandpa Joe Roy Kinnear - Mr Salt Leonard Stone - Mr Beauregard Nora Denney - Mrs Teavee Ursula Reit - Mrs Gloop Diana Sowle - Mrs Bucket Denise Nickerson - Violet Beauregard AND OF COURSE The Oompa Loompas Malcolm Dixon George Claydon Angelo Muscatt Norman McGlen Ismed Hassan Marcus Powel And all the other actors. • the guy who played Charlie still deserves to win wonka's factory.. his soft, genuine spirit still shines through

this movie can be remade a 100 times and it will never measure up to gene wilder & the original kids.

Gene Wilder deadpanning....stop, don’t, come back. Even as a child I thought was hilarious. Never saw anyone else as able to convey sarcasm, apathy, and acceptance of the inevitable in four short words. Loved him, miss him, can’t replace him. Loved this documentary, so sad the children never got any type of royalties, would have made life easier for them and their families. Glad they all turned out so good. Thanks for sharing.

Can we just take a minute and thank the oompa loompa actors for going and putting on the outfit and makeup for this special. That was pretty cool.

Grandpa Joe, the real villain of the movie. Bastard could have gotten out of bed any time in the last 20 years and helped the family eat better than cabbage water all this time.

I can't believe they asked Michael how much he weighed. The poor child. And he grew up lovely. I love these guys. Thanks whoever saw this and uploaded it to youtube.

You know my sister had Julie Dawn Cole as a therapist when she was struggling with the social effects of visual impairment. I was stunned by just how seamlessly she has transitioned to ordinary life. It must be hard going from being famous when your young to just being a regular person in your adult life, but she’s a very pleasant woman and my sister adored her.

Peter Ostrum went from Charlie Bucket to Ned Flanders in like 30 years.

It's sweet to see that the actors themselves were still very much ordinary children outside of their roles. Their childhood innocence still intact

I established a correspondence with film director Mel Stuart later in his life. I was looking for a documentary that he'd worked on in the 1970s called Life Goes to the Movies. He actually burned DVDs of the entire documentary at no cost to me and sent a nice note along with the DVDs (there were 3 of them, which I still have and cherish). I think he was flattered that anyone would remember him 35 or so years later. What a guy. We stayed in touch and he reminisced a bit about the Wonka experience. It was one of the highlights of his career.

i absolutely love how they turned out to be such good friends, and really genuinely nice people

Noone will EVER fill Gene Wilder's shoes as Willy Wonka. He was perfect!
  • @Foxtrot1967
Refreshing to see none of them fell victim to drugs and alcohol
  • I always felt sorry for the character Augustus. Even as a kid I thought it was cruel. Watch it this I again feel for him in person being so left out.
