  • Brain cancer patient here...your show actually makes chemo a little less hard. Just a little. Thank you sir.
  • @gaflor44
Well said! He didn’t apologize for being a comedian and making a joke, but he took the situation and the feedback seriously. A man of class!

That first part hit home. Our family is at the beginning of cancer journey and Kate's diagnosis was a reminder that anyone anywhere at anytime can be the next to get the horrible news. Cherish every day with those you love.

So there was a beer segment, and you didn’t use it to push Cerveza Cristal…..
  • The British royal family should get the best healthcare, but so should everyone else in the UK, the NHS has been underfunded so that people in the UK have a greater chance of death. On the subject of a cancer the longer the waiting list for each type of treatment the more people die and the less cancer testing the more people die. The NHS in the UK is a million times better then the American model where people without money are just left to die, and the NHS is much cheaper then the American healthcare system, but NHS does need some funding and not only have the government been cutting funding what funding there is has been spend on external contract with people who are friends of politicians so that the rich keep stealing the money whilst peoples lives are on the line. I hope the royals get well so, but I also hope everyone else in the UK who is having to suffer the greed of the wealthy can get an NHS that is able to help them.
  • If only some of your politicians were as humble and self aware as Stephen!

Want to know why Colbert resonates with so many? Watch the first 2 minutes of this episode. Class act, as always. When the situation changes, he is unafraid of saying he was wrong to do something, but self aware that while he manages to minimize them, jokes can hurt. Part of the job. Love you Colbert and if Pete Buttigeg runs for president, you should be his running mate. Imagine that ticket!

my respect for Stephen and the Late show staff for taking a moment and talk about what they had said. My respect and prayers for Kate and her family Cancer isnt something any family wants to go through.
  • As someone dying because of cancer that made me cry a bit thanks Stephen I pray to see you live one day before it's too late
  • @Kittymancer78
THIS is why I respect and admire this gentleman so much, his ethical compass will not be broken. Thank you sir for being such a wonderful shining example of a truly good human being and a class act.
  • quite honestly, I wish even a fraction of the population had as much integrity as he has and is proud of.
  • Steven Colbert again showing what a respectful and empathetic person he is if everyone had half his respect and compassion the world would be a much better place....
  • @Max-zg2ci
    That parsel-tongue joke was 🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾
  • A piece of advice that has stayed with me, It's important to know when to apologize. NOT - "it's important to apologize when you're wrong" - no. It's important to know when to apologize. There are times you will have done no wrong but still need to apologize because it's possible to do no wrong but still cause harm.
  • @tytn9978
Your opening today is the reason I admire you. Yes, you make fun of people when that is appropriate and.or deserved, but you also offer compassion when compassion is needed. I recall once saying something off the cuff, and truly hurting someone without realizing it, until she came up to me and explained how what I had said was insensitive, at least to her, and possibly to others. I listened, absorbed, and and then replied , "Yes, you are right, and I apologize for my thoughtlessness!" ... and that was all that she required of me. So, I am now thankful that you have mirrored that level of grace for your audience.
  • @196cupcake
See, this is why Colbert is a class act. For what it's worth, Louis Cato is crushing it as band leader.
  • @Heartwing13
I think it’s completely fine to make jokes about rich famous people not knowing they have cancer. It’s not like he was wishing she had cancer or anything.
  • @Sharonmxg
Once again Stephen proves he is the stand up guy of stand up guys. An example of human at its best.
