A former US Marine that served in WWII told his hospice caregivers that he wanted to meet another veteran that also fought in the Battle of Guadalcanal. Social media made that wish come true.

We are the last generation that will ever talk to ww2 veterans.

Sgt. Hession died 26 days after this video was posted. Sgt Berg only a few months later... Rest in Peace and thank you both for your service.
  • The fact that those two men fought the same battle, lived to be over 90 AND got to meet each other is just incredible.

I'd rather meet a WW2 Veteran than any celebrity in the world.
  • Two men with a bond that not many could understand.. thank you both for your service.. TRUE HEROES

"When they said goodbye, they knew they likely would not see each other again." That hit my heart right there..
  • to be married for 71 years, gone through a war, lost his wife and still travelled to meet this amazing other vet. People just arnt the same anymore...
  • A real tear jerker. How can you not love and respect these men for their sacrifices.
  • My Grandad never fought in the war because he was a coal miner in Yorkshire, England. But his brothers did. One of his brothers was just a few weeks away from surviving the war. He landed on the beaches on D-Day and fought through northern Europe, but was killed in the Netherlands. I get really emotional when seeing surviving WW2 veterans living a good life. They are all amazing for what they did. Too many people don't fully appreciate the scale of the victory and the fact that we can never fully thank them for it.

That 92 yr old is incredible. Sharp, and has a great sense of humor. I'm sorry for his loss.

To anyone who help this vet get his wish--Thank you. To the vets themselves, we will never forget that you did your duty and we thank you for it. God bless you all.

He died less then a month after this video came out. RIP. You are a true American hero. Harold died just a couple months later, in August. RIP

“My golly” you can tell these men are from a different time period. American Heroes.

What a beautiful moment, the old man badly wanted to meet someone who shared and understood that experience of a terrifying battle that changed their lives, and for that last final salute to each other and to fallen comrades.
