The reality was Taurasi and Gray should have been left off for Clark and Arike. US Basketball didn't have the guts to leave Taurasi off. Gray hadn't played a game all season due to injury when they named the team. It was laughable then, it's laughable now. Remember, the argument was, her game didn't fit because of her usage. And now people are realizing she is the best passer in the women's game, which was true then. TJ is so far off base with his take.

They left out CC because grandma had to get her 6th golden and grandma couldn't deal with a youngster outshining her triple zero.

TJ - Facts for you: - Arike pulled herself out of the of the running months earlier bc of this bs politics - Angel was not in the eligible pool What has Caitlin proven? - She has more assists already l in 26 games than 75% of WNBA players in league history. - She currently leads the entire league in assists. - She has the highest total points either scored or assisted on in the league. - She has better numbers this season than 3 of the 4 guards on the team, and she’s not far off from Sabrina’s numbers. - They only brought one true point guard on a team of individual stars, and that PG can pass but hardly move. - Caitlin fills a legitimate need. If hypothetically, Angel was eligible and in the pool, she plays a role at 4 or 5 that is covered well on the team by aja, griner, Stewie,etc, plus, they can play small in a lot of games and still have the size advantage. The marketing narrative is not how would want her to make the team when there are better basketball reasons why Caitlin should be there.

As a hockey fan, Wayne Gretzky is the only player in NHL history to really register with the masses. His trade to LA was the biggest story in sports, he hosted SNL and brought eyeballs that the league has never seen again. The NHL has been a niche sport that the national media completely ignores for 10 months and may mention it during the playoffs. For every WNBA fan like TJ who doesn’t understand what CC can do for the sport, you advertise the hell out of her now. SHE is the only reason people are talking about the WNBA, and yet the irony is the pushback is coming from WNBA fans.
