  • People will still be listening to and loving this timeless classic as long as the earth and humanity exist.

Fond memories of the white ladder album, was a difficult time in my life, but this album will last my lifetime with me đź‘Ś
  • Criminally underrated singer and song this. With some of the absolute crap that hits hundreds of millions of views as soon as its released...the music industry is broken. Style over substance nowadays. This is actual talent.

49k views is an absolute crime. What a genius, beautiful
  • @MelStaub
White ladder is quite possibly one of the best albums ever released.
  • Had to pull over from driving as David broke my heart with his deep sensitivity. Made me cry at the side of the road, and I'm not sure why.
  • @Timekeeper1200

See this people... Music without autotune. It's a rarity and takes skill.
  • @mrmlivelounge
This is one of the purest version of this song I think we have ever heard. That piano is unreal.

David gray was banging on the doors of record companies. He self financed his debut album sell sell sell. But record executives through the album in the bin. He was independent record guy. But he wanted to break America but executives didn't seem to care. So his manager, who was one of his best friends said why don't you try Ireland and eventually David who was unknown absolutely unknown anywhere. Said I'll do it. In 1998 gray started to play small clubs in Ireland. Small crowds gathered and word of mouth spread about this English singer songwriter who couldn't get a break in his native UK. His manager told him about a brand new festival that was starting called oxygen. In 1998. And toured relentlessly all over Ireland. Sold out everywhere he went. White ladder came out and every home In Ireland had copy. Total sales in 250, 000 copies making it the most successful Irish album by British artists. Gray and his manager used the infant festival circuit at a spring board. His manager was being stonewalled by the major labels who wanted nothing to do with his artist. It was 2000. Grays manager rang him to say that he had a major piece of news, he got him a booking with Glastonbury and on the same day as David Bowie. Gray took his dad along, who was battling Cancer. David and his dad were going the pyramid stage, David was a bout to perform and very stressed and he is looking for him his dad was talking to David Bowie. David got a bit annoyed because time was ticking and Bowie and David grays dad were Havjng a lengthy chat. He eventually reminded his dad he had to go on. Gray manager approached David and off david gray Webb to perform for the first time at Glastonbury. David Bowie knocked everyone's socks off at Glastonbury. All the executives who stonewalled David gray and ignored him pulled thier heads out of thier asses after his Glastonbury performance. It was the biggest tv audience gray ever had and on the bbc. All went to grays head.

This year's love had better last Heaven knows it's high time I've been waiting on my own too long And when ya hold me like you do It feels so right oh now I start to forget how my heart gets torn When that hurt gets thrown Feeling like you can't go on Turning circles and time again Cut like a knife oh now If ya love me got to know for sure 'Cause it takes something more this time Than sweet, sweet lies oh now Before I open up my arms and fall Losing all control Every dream inside my soul When ya kiss me on that midnight street Sweep me off my feet Singing, "ain't this life so sweet?" This year's love had better last This year's love had better last 'Cause who's to worry if our hearts get torn When that hurt gets thrown Don't ya know this life goes on? Won't ya kiss me on that midnight street? Sweep me off my feet Singing, "ain't this life so sweet?" This year's love had better last This year's love had better last This year's love had better last This year's love had better last This year's love had better last Woah woah woah I yeah This year's love had better last
