Steel buildings are similar to Faraday cages and don't burn when struck. The shells are grounded. I've had one (there are many vendors of this style building as they are made with similar equipment and materials, SHOP AROUND) for a long time. The hardware has gaskets, and water doesn't fall upwards. No problems and I'll be getting another. They are suited to DIY. K-spans work well too but aren't DIY territory. The US military have been globally deploying the machines to roll K-spans from sheet metal for decades. For large structures at remote sites that's the way to go as the equipment and metal ship in the most compact form, and rolling sections onsite allows immediate replacement if one is damaged. They go together quickly. There are K-span videos on Youtube which are entertaining if you are into construction.

Slow it down to .25 and see what they did at 4:11 . Can't see it at high speed. Helpful trick.

How about showing me how the first couple of arches went up!

there are now dozens of these buildings nearby since I erected mine to include some huge models for raising chickens for Claxton Chicken.

Would you not always put the overlap so that the rain would stay on the outside...? Seems like it would be a constant source for water to leak in if you overlaped the wrong way as I seen a few times here...? Seems like a nice do it yourself building other that that...

What kind of wind can this building take?
  • Do I have to have a concrete base and if so can I make a 2ft wide form with a 6 inch depth?

Great video shows all the things I wanted to know in detail. But in super fast motion. So It gets a BIG THUMBS DOWN ! You could have slowed it down to just one bolt tightening or one end wall Bolt or Redhead ?
  • That middle connector at 0:53 should have some silicone sealant applied to keep out humidity and insects.
  • @gary24752
I didn't see them use any sealant between panels?
