They are the top 2 upsets because of the seeding, but when it comes to shock value, no one, and I mean no one, gave Villanova a chance over Georgetown in 1985. The Hoyas were loaded, experienced, etc. Same goes for UNLV in 1991, when Duke beat them in the final four.

It HAS to be FDU -Lost their conference tournament, only made it because the winner was ineligible -Shortest team in the nation IIRC going up against Edey -So short they didn’t have a man listed as a CENTER -Outside of the top 300 in computer rankings -Had to survive a First Four matchup to even make it -Purdue shot 4/21 from 3 There was only one opportunity, one shot, one POSSIBLE way FDU beat Purdue and they did

I would say FDU was a bigger upset, whilst UMBC was the more shocking upset.

We were at the tournament in Charlotte in 2018 to witness both the smack down of UVA and then the following day of UNC by Texas A&M. Being a Duke fan, that was the most fun we’ve had at any of the NCAA Tournaments that we’ve attended for the past 15 years. I know the pain of their fanbase, having set thru Dukes first round losses to Mercer and Lehigh. That’s why they call it March Madness.
