This new powered door, lock ring, chimney trap from Comstock Custom Cage is designed to drop into small chimney flues, out of sight, to capture exiting denning female raccoons with litters. A quick reliable way to safely remove a denning female is with a drop in live cage trap. With dimensions of 5x9x29, this trap has a similar opening to existing traps but with one major difference. It is much shorter, 14 inches shorter, and thus easier to handle than it’s 43 inch long counterpart. Size and space are of the essence both in the vehicle and while carrying traps with or without raccoons in them. Since raccoons are most often found in the den during the daylight hours, if the trap is set during the day the raccoons will generally be in the den. When the trap is dropping into place the raccoon will be captured as she leaves the den.

The door is powered for fast closing, while lock rings drop securely into place for a solid lock up. A trip bar is located 28 inches from the bottom end of the trap so that the raccoon is well into the trap before the trap is fired. The raccoon simply pulls the trip bar at the top of the trap, which allows the trip rod to rotate and release the powered door.

They are listed as 5"x8" on the website. It seems a little small for a big fat northern Indiana pregnant female. I'm torn between this trap and the 12x12x36 tomahawk chimney trap. Hands down I would choose this one if it were 8x8. I only want to buy 1.. your thoughts?
