Great video, Kevin, a fun watch while I'm watching snow fall outside the window (Maryland). I especially enjoyed watching you prep your firewood...I learned some stuff about making fire in damp conditions. Your meal looked great! Good stuff, really entertaining 👍

A couple slivers of Vermont Cheddar would’ve made that breakfast absolutely perfect! Love the videos Man. Gonna watch em’ all!

Just outstanding ! Great effort on this, aquaquest is a very solid company. I have a dry bag and a tarp from them. You did this right. The wood prep, the explanation on being patient when building a fire is so important. I love tarp camping ! Again, well done man. I know what it takes to offer up a video when you are out in the elements. It’s not easy. You deserve way more subscribers. , cheers !

I was gonna say bear, I thought the tracks looked large but I don't know very much about the woods. Learning! Awesome bushcraft set up! love the ridge line and made wood pegs and stakes! Bivy set up is so cool!!! have to say, 20 degrees, wet, snow, Vermont woods! That's pretty hardcore! hahaha! I would probably need a wall tent with a wood stove, hahaha (I'm a weak flatlander-hahaha) Also, I have to comment, frying the burrito is next level camp cuisine! no one else does it! I just started doing it at home and it is waaaay better! I wanted to mention, we are not allowed to wilderness camp down here in Southern New England/southeastern CT/RI . The state land requires camping only in designated campsites which are only open April-October unfortunately. I was thinking about lobbying the state DEEP to maybe create a "wilderness camping permit" that residents could apply for , for I'm not holding out much hope. We have to go North for that kind of thing! Thx as always for your thoughtful and informative content and Happy New Year Monsieur Kevin!
  • Hi Kevin, looks like you've got the bushcraft camping in soggy conditions dialed in quite nicely, man; no easy feat in cold, wet Vermont, right? Aqua Quest makes darn good stuff! Luv their Safari 10X10 tarp, and used mine at Stannard Pond in Steam Mill Brook with very satisfactory results. Thanks, as always, for taking us along. Wishing you a safe and adventure filled 2024! 🐀

Looked like a great overnight!! I just got back today from a two night on the Little Manistee River here in Michigan. We have ZERO snow, hoping we get some soon!! Thanks for the tip with the saw on shorter pieces!! Stay safe!!

I’ve been using the aquaquest hooped bivy for years now and it’s so good I don’t even use tents anymore
  • @MeetMeOutside
That bivy from Aqua quest looks solid ! Might need to look into one of those !

Great overnight. Your meals always look really good. Slick little feather stick trick. Porcupine 👍🏻 Was going to guess mink or fox but then again not much of a tracker.

Kevin, nice video brother. I liked and subscribed. Yeah, people go beserk when the grounds are wet but if ya can get ahold of a vertical dead standing your good to go. Most water will penetrate is about an 1/8 of an inch. So the wood is dry in the center. Gotta love fatwood. That is my favorite fatwood and birch bark. I just learned that the inner bark of cottonwood makes great tinder. Tried it too. Takes a spark really well very close to tulip poplar. I was wondering where the tarp was from. I thought perhaps Bushcraft Spain. I am juat to the west of Vermont. New York. Grew up outside the Adirondacks. I have the aquaquest bivy on my wish list. You sold me on it. Was worried about the condensation issue. Glad you got some snow. I look forward to your next video. Ya know, once ya start a fire with flint and steel, it is hard to go back to another method. Lol. Great job. I k ow making videos is time consuming and a lot effort is given. Thanks for your time. I enjoyed watching it.

Nice video Kevin. As you stated, wood preparation is everything for a successful fire. I think I would have preferred to use a hatchet to split all the wood, but you did a great job with the knife. You are more patient than me. As far as the porcupine, don’t Vermonters usually call them hedgehogs? At least that’s what my VT friend calls them. Thanks for sharing.
  • Great video you showcased several pieces of gear i want to add to my gear, the swing grill and bivy and even the little tripod chair all neat stuff i have a tentsmith tarp but found it too heavy to lug around soi use it in a semi permanant camp
