WALKING SAFELY in your ATTIC

2021-11-16に共有
Attic insulation and knowing how to walk safely is very important. It will prevent damage that you otherwise would do if you fell through your ceiling, or stepped on light fixtures, bathroom fans, or other expensive equipment that could cause lots of damage.

I use pro pink Owens Corning blow in insulation in all my attic insulation installations. Watch to understand how to insulate your attic, do it yourself, using a rented machine. Attic ventilation is primordial in a well insulated attic. Most attic insulation blow in installations I show are to r60 thermal resistance. This is a video of a typical attic I would insulate at a job site. I picked an easy one for the walk through.

  • This is the most informative video I have found on YouTube for walking around in my attic
  • 🇨🇦‼️WATCHING…Great tutorial Josh and how to move around and step around inside an attic loadbearing walls and truss are very important to an attic be careful how you move around. Watch to the very end thanks for sharing.
  • This is the best attic video, safety video and load bearing wall video I have ever seen. Bravo!!!

    Thorough video thanks!

Thank you! An attic can be so intimidating, and that's coming from someone in the oil & gas industry.

I would never done insulation like this anymore. I'd spray foam it or insulate outside and make the attic temp contolled.

I don't get it. How do you determine so quickly an interior wall is actually bearing load. Are trusses like fink trusses not bearing themselves.... If it was a rafter sure. But how can you say just cause any wall is perpendicular to a truss is load bearing? Usually the majority if not all walls under a true truss system don't bear the load. Perpendicular or not.

So getting into a corner on a 4/12 pitch was difficult yesterday. I had to rip out and install new flex duct. Damaged some drywall near one register out of 10 i did. I used conduit to place in between the trusses to then step on. What was difficult was having no wood to place near the tight corners to lay on. Would a pice of wood be the best bet in them situations? I want to be prepared next time.
  • Hey great channel , i own a 1984 house with no plastic between the drywall and roof trusses , only have one batt of pink insulation on top of that and id like boost the insulation there , the fact that there’s no plastic barrier will that be a problem for the house if i want to bring it up to r50 ? Im from Gatineau . What would you recommend ? Merci d’avance👍🏻
  • Damn you blown insulation installers. You make it nearly impossible for me to run Ethernet drops
  • If I may ask, would you saying there is a personal weight that you would be at feeling uncomfortable walking around the attic? I’m not asking am I too heavy for mine specifically nor yours, but it’s at the back of my mind. When stepping on those trusses, I do wonder how much weight I can apply and for how long. Obviously I try and balance my weight. I imagine you’ve gotten questions like this before any words of advice?
