  • I was raised on a sheep farm. I helped with the shearing. My Dad seldom cut the sheep. If he did, he put an antiseptic on it. The sheep didn't struggle once they knew what was happening. Our sheep were handled with care. They are GENTLE ANIMALS, no need for ruffness. The people in this video are cruel money lovers.

They’re handling the sheep pretty carelessly.
  • My grandparents owned a sheep shearing business. If they had someone that tore up a sheep like the first guy in this video, he would have been off the plant faster than he could get that fleece to the wool sack. Our dogs we used to help get the sheep from the fields to the pens and chutes - they weren't allowed to abuse them either. In fact we bred our border collies to ensure they were more biddable and able to work sheep without injury to them. Sheepmen (Shepards) needed their stock treated well and kept healthy. It's too bad that today's industry doesn't seem to value that integrity of the profession anymore.

It upsets me when I see such gentle shy creatures handled so cruelly. There is no need for it. 😩😥
  • I homestead. I'm not normally upset by videos, I know the reality. But this one needed a comment left. Those sheep had some pretty long, deep cuts. I'm shocked that a professional setup would do that - and nothing put on those areas to prevent flies from attacking. The fleeces had areas of blood on them when they were being skirted. Dang...I thought in today's modern world we did a little better by the sheep. I just sheared one of mine today, one small nick and we treated it. I used hand shears too, those electric ones can really cut a sheep badly if not done carefully. Makes the wool industry go down a notch in my mind... The rest of the video was interesting on a large scale model, I just couldn't get past those sheep with gaping wounds and the blood on the fleeces (tells you the cuts were deep).
  • They were WAY too rough handling those sheep. They are living creatures. Pulling him by his head like that, and cutting so harshly that he had gashes on his body?! This made me cry. Poor babies!

The way the sheep were handled and the amount of wounds inflicted by careless shearing is just disgusting
  • @Alu_kardd
This is the most aggressive sheep handling I’ve ever seen
  • @rekahanna
I dont like at all how the sheeps are handled. Rough.

Traditional shearers are gentle and professional. There is a great respect for the sheep. What is a shame is that the wool market has become so specialized. There are many places that give about 50 cents per coat and it costs the farmer up to $15. To get the shearing done. For most shepherds it is about the sheep’s comfort more than the wool product. But if wool were more widely used in clothing and people realized just how warm and comfy it can be..the mills would have to pay much more.

Dude! You are nicking and cutting the sheep with your rough sheering!! The lambs are all beat up and blood is everywhere!!
  • @JeantheSecond
I’m opposed to banning the wool industry. But I’m in favor of strict laws requiring humane treatment and excellent conditions for sheep.

“Amazing” is not the word to be used here. “Cruel” is
  • @nekoneko871
i hope they can be more gentle with animal. after all they owe them their business
  • @KFrost-fx7dt
It's weird to think that every fiber in clothing either came from a living animal's hair follicle or from the living structures of a plant. Makes you appreciate it more.
  • Sheep are beautiful animals and deserve the upmost respect This cruelty is uncalled for
  • @blehblu
I legit thought that man was gonna hang the sheep upside down
  • @mrs_faol
Well now I'm really glad I rarely get wool yarn and when I do, it's all local. that poor sheep had cuts EVERYWHERE and the shearer had so many second cuts but didn't care. I watch a traveling shearer who takes her time to get smooth blankets and makes every effort to ensure the sheep, llama or alpaca is safe and comfortable the whole time. But the guys in these clips were awful, I don't care how many you have to do, those sheep can deal with waiting if it means they won't get practically butchered to get sheared
