IX is such a beautiful game. Its graphics hold up really well thanks to the stylized designs they went with. It tied with VI as my favorite in the series when it was released. The fact there are people out there that want a remake that does away with the style kills me. IX doesn't even need a remake IMO.

I didn’t appreciate 9 when it came out, but I think it holds up better than any other in the series with the possible exception of 10

I can't believe the chef's haven't changed the smoke detector battery. They work in a kitchen.

Hey this type of video is a wonderful idea for a video format. Just going through a game and appreciating the NPC stories and little world building details and stuff with added jokes. This is the sort of stuff we all like in games but never really talk about. I always notice the little ongoing stories with NPCs like this in games where after major story events they will have little updates and progression. Like for real I think this is a great idea you’ve hit upon and would love to see you give the same treatment to other games too. Give the people that write these minor details some love!

I always loved the worldbuilding to ff9. All the tiny details, architecture designs, cultures, location names and so on. It inspired me to create my own little worlds, most of which will never see the light of day, but it's still a very fun hobby~

ff9 is one of the few games where i actually give a crap about the NPC's. Tons have actually interesting stories or develop and react to the world. Love this game so much
  • I guess it would be too obvious, but 2 things: the war probably did happen around 20-ish years ago, as Steiner tells the Princess "you never experienced the horrors of war Princess", implying that he has. Beatrix is also renowned for her power in war, and they're both in their mid-30s. So it stands to say there was a giant war around 20 years ago. Second, in Madain Sari you can explore the eidolon war to find out Daggers real name, and you will also discover that the Moogles saved Lani from certain death, and she learned to appreciate the moogles and their way of life. Which is fun, considering her review about "that thing that goes Kupo" in the hotel :)

Around 22:40 you wondered if the little girl at the station would see her father again, and then mentioned her losing her father in the Lindblum attack, but in your first visit to the city you can trigger a cutscene where the father surprises the little girl because he was given leave for the festival or something. I had played the game multiple times and never seen it myself, so I've been playing the game slowly to try and find other obscure content like that. The Chrono Trigger looking guy at the airship port that you mentioned never seeing before also had an optional scene you can experience in the castle after his shit, but only the first time you're there.

Man I played this game so many times and I can't believe there are still things I missed. After going to the ticket booth I never thought about walking back and talking to Mick

I really love all the Little details done for the world building in games like these, it's part of the reason why I love FFX and XII so much, really just makes the world feel complete.
  • @jmanclan
The best thing about final fantasy 9 was the long road leading to this video. Another banger, insightful and hilarious.
  • @bobojr2126
really wish more games would go for this type of eccentric phantasy look.
  • @crazedvegetable
I felt like I've seen a lot of love letters to IX on YouTube lately. I really can't wait until they confirm the inevitable remake of this masterful game
  • The sword in the one shop has a nudge to ff7 because it looks like clouds buster sword kinda. Zidane says something like "i remember a guy with spiky hair that used to carry somethi g like this" I cant remember the shop. Thought it was lindblum on the first visit Edit: tetra master is awesome!!
  • @thedoughyboi
Honestly, you should make this some kind of series. A Walk Through (Insert RPG Here) and explore the world building these older RPG's had that generated so many memories and quality games.

With regards to the teleporting bubble pots: (speculation) They can't just go anywhere they want, they specifically go between that magic circle in the castle and the big pots on the Queen's private airship which allows it to act as a mobile forward base capable of teleporting in supplies and troops at a steady pace and also using the pots for short range teleportation deployment of those troops in tactical locations without landing. I don't think she even needs to worry about her approach and supply lines at the point she starts killing rats in disc 1. As for where she got it and why it's only used for this one thing, I think it's fair to assume it's something Kuja set up for her personally in his role as magical weapons broker. It's likely Kuja could have given Brahne a more sophisticated setup but he would have had no reason to, a simpler setup like the one provided was more than enough to throw the mist continent into chaos.

You (Yes, you, the player) can already confirm the ticket is fake by inspecting it in the Key Items menu before going up to the stall.
