Make F1 Great Again: The US F1 Team That Never Made It Into Formula 1

The deadlock of American manufacturers entering F1 - having enjoyed a glut in the ‘60s and ‘70s with Eagle, Penske and, erm, Scarab – looked to have been broken sooner amid F1’s new-team tender process.

Sensing an opportunity to increase F1’s exposure in America, the FIA admitted the US F1 team to the 2010 grid in its overtures to hand the Star-Spangled Banner its first exposure on the constructors’ list for nearly quarter of a decade.

Set up by engineer Ken Anderson, a veteran of IndyCar – heading up the design of the G-Force car that took to the IRL’s cast of oval circuits - and ex-Williams team manager Peter Windsor, the US F1 project made its home in Charlotte, North Carolina, from facilities formerly owned by the Joe Gibbs Racing NASCAR team.

Cosworth: "so, we need the information on sidepods and stuff" USF1: "I said don't worry about it cuh"

Ah yes, Windsor, a person whose channel heavily featured Rich Energy branding, defended Rich Energy and gave William Storey a platform to defend himself and his company without challenging him on anything

To this day i sincerely think USF1 was a scam to run away with as much sponsor money as they could. They kept up the facade for too long when it was obvious they were nowhere near making it to the grid, but still tried to lure in drivers with sponsor money
  • I want to inform the world that I am starting a brand new F1 team for 2022. I read F1 magazines so i am qualified. My buddy Steve has a sweet tuned Honda Civic Ricer, so he will be my Technical director and my bro Dick is very fast with his golf GTI so he's our pilot. We will DOMINATE

Cosworth: "hey guys shall we decide talk about how you are going to mount the engine to the chassis and your gearbox?" USF1: "yo bro, we're just gonna drop it in. Don't stress"

Transverse gearbox and coilover suspension... yeah, this team was going nowhere fast.
  • There are now technically 2 American teams if you count Williams witch is now owned by an American Investment company. although they still operate in The UK.
  • I remember when they first announced this and I knew they weren't going to put a car on track.

Idk but, I’m an American but when I see the Haas F1 team, I don’t think American, when I see Haas in NASCAR I do think American. Idk why but F1 Haas just doesn’t click with me idk why

Know Dome was planning an F1 project in the past and even tested a car, the Dome F105. I wonder how far they got. Would've love an item about that project

As an American F1 fan living in Charlotte, NC I was PUMPED for this team... then we got what we got lol. Bad times.
  • Honestly they should have called up ford and tried to get them on board as a sponsor. You know an American team running a Ford Cosworth sponsored by Ford... kinda makes sense no?
  • As an American f1 fan, I am a McLaren fan, not a Haas fan. If you ask me, American teams are not the main way to make F1 popular in America. You aren't a fan of a car company because they are from your country, you are a fan of them because of the cars they make. With F1, you are rarely a fan of a team because they are from your country. A better way imo would be getting American drivers.
  • Oh shit I had no idea Peter Windsor was apart of this. I just thought he was an f1 youtuber
  • @oscarshen6855
The moment when Peter Windsor become a joke, and he did it again with Rich Energy. He is the kind of guy who talks like he knows everything but the reality is just the opposite.

I think that FIA shouldn’t have given USF1 9 months to do everything. To build a new entrant from scratch needs at least between 3-5 years to plan and execute everything. Also the management was bad also.
