"I'd prefer to finish with a farewell dinner rather than a memorial service." ....and then the practical realities of administrating today--so pragmatically acknowledged--what a beautiful farewell.

It is a good thing that he openly refers to The Almighty. Many people in such positions nowadays suppress anything to do with their belief in God when in public media. I hope Oxford remains true to its motto and chooses another God-believing chancellor.

A sensible decision from a sensible man who has done a great job.

Thank you, Chancellor, for your long, loyal and diligent service; your wise counsel, and your extraordinary skill in recruiting the talent and support of a multitude of benefactors from across the world. Very best wishes and good health to you for the future. (PS, I voted for you all those years ago, and am very glad that I did!) 😊
