I'm always on the hunt for great scenic drives, even in New Jersey. After doing much research I realized the back roads I know are better than any scenic drive suggestions I've found across a multitude of travel guides. This week I share that knowledge with a 4K-hyperlapse and mini-travel guide on a route from The Delaware Water Gap to High Point.

Highlights include several stops along the Delaware River, two historical villages, Stokes State Forest, and High Point State Park. Each road is wonderful - from four-lane highways to single lane dirt roads, the foliage is popping and the views are lovely.

Here is the route map from CalTopo: caltopo.com/m/5Q251

Awesome vid. My wife and I did scenic drives back in the 80's. Good years. Thanks for the cruise.
  • Grew up in Newton - so practically lived in that area of the state. Gorgeous - and remember that area all these years later and 3000 miles away.

I’m a New Jersey transplant from PA, have been searching high and low for new roads to explore in North New Jersey and this video opened my eyes! I’ve been to High Point but definitely missed that Scenic Route, will go back, especially for the fall! Amazing video!
  • Thank You. From heart, this video was so beautiful. I didn't skip once. I can't wait to finish with my stuff and take this drive.

Just came across your channel today, loving the way you did this video! NJ native, haven't been up to this area. Really enjoy how you show pics in other seasons. Can't wait to do this drive myself!

Lou, looks like we share the same love for these back roads, especially in the fall. I saw some new spots you mentioned that I definitely want to check out. Great video. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.

I grew up in Roxbury, in Morris County, but I've been in South Jersey since the mid 80s. I have driven all or parts of the Old Mine Road once or twice. I have been through Millbrook and Walpack Center. I love it up there. The last time I was in the area my best friend took me to a scenic overlook on 80, maybe in the Mt. Arlington area, but I don't remember now. I took plenty of pictures though. I didn't see the Delaware View House in your video. You get some amazing views from there. I believe it was built as a hotel, but when we were there, there was just a little general store on the ground floor. Also I don't remember part of the Old Mine Road being private. That's interesting. I'll have to check into that. I have been to High Point, but it's been a long time. On a different note, I have several scenic drive videos on my channel, shot in this area of South Jersey. I used a camera (handheld) aimed through the windshield. Thanks.

love this video, missing my Jersey Sunday drives. So I searched and found yours. However it is very fast. So I set it to 0.5 speed. Slowed it up a bit, but the audio and it sounds like you are very high or had a stroke...it is very funny...thankyou so much for the drive it was just what I needed for my Jersey heart missing fall so much.

It was a trip down memory lane for me. I hope more people find the goodness of places that are just not propagandized in a great way. New Jersey does have some great places if you love beauty. Seek and you will find what you are looking for.
  • @FITNAH1
Thanks Lou. I am only searching for some beautiful scenic New Jersey driving routes being a New Jersey native myself 😊 If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have this beautiful video. Thanks again buddy 👍🏽

This is excellent! I love driving through these roads and yes mountain house tavern grill is our go to stop for lunch or early dinner. One of my best drives was a couple of years ago during one of the most beautiful fall day . Got some really great photos on that day.
