Hearing these two master journalists converse and in their element makes one long for another age that departed such a short time ago but is long gone.

And now Charles Osgood and Charles Kuralt are reunited.
  • Charles Kuralt : showing the everyday, extraordinary lives of everyday Americans. The joys, the triumphs, the hard times. Grew up watching you. Thank you for showing us, for SO many years, and SO eloquently, what IS right about America ! You are missed, but your stories - of their stories - will live on forever.

Dear Lord, we could use another one like Charles today. Thank you for such people who have the ability to give hope to a world that at times seems hopeless. Amen

as a North Carolinian I am so proud of Charles, he was a master of his craft, his work will stand the test of time, Quality always does. in our capital of Raleigh, NC we have a TV station,...WRAL not far from Chapel Hill, where Charles went to college at UNC,...where he is buried on the campus. WRAL has a daily program patterned and inspired by On The Road, it is called The Tarheel Traveler, reporting human interest stories, well done, and we appreciate it, i will get up from supper and run to the TV to see it, and Charles is on my mind each time i do.
  • We all Missing Mr. Charles Kuralt sense of human & his voice . Rest in peace Mr. Charles Kuralt .

No matter what your religion or lack thereof the sound of that opening Trumpet was once the sound of Sunday morning in America and this country has grown darker since its passing.

He has a capable replacement in Steve Hartman. Not the same as Charles Kuaralt but enjoyable on the road none the less.

I met Mr Kuralt 30 years ago. We were vacationing on one of Georgia’s “Golden Isles”. I walked up to my dad and him in conversation. Dad had no idea who the man he was sharing friendly conversation with. But I recognized the voice and the man right away. I read his books and watched Sunday Morning. I looked at him and the lady with him with a “Are you who I think you are?” look. I got two sly smiles. Meanwhile, the conversation with my dad continued who was seeing the ocean again for the first time since he went overseas for WWII. I did not interrupt. I did get his remark stating his home being in the outter banks of NC. So I knew, I smiled, they smiled, and my daddy and him conversed.

It's nice to see the commercials too. A window into the past.

I mourn that the true, honest journalists like I believe Kuralt, Cronkite, Safer, Wallace, Bradley, et al were. We' ve lost freedom of the press. I'm grsteful I have no decendants. 😶
  • Sometimes I think he was riding on the moon in comparison to what our nation has become, not saying there aren't good people around, it's the difference between a homemade pie and one that came from Walmart.

Now his work at preserving the America I grew up watching it reminds us that what truly makes America great...not blowhard, egomaniac politicians but the average workaday American and their stories.
