Research shows that air drying can be more damaging than blow-drying. How could this be, right? Well, @BradMondo is calling cap on my recent TikTok and called me out for spreading misinformation, I thought I'd share my reaction and talk about it! Keep watching as I explain all the nitty-gritty scientiffy and share all the facts to back me up, including sharing my own professional perspective on the topic as someone with lived experiences of having curly textured hair as a textured hair specialist. Thank you for sharing your insight and opinion on this one Brad, I think we can respectfully agree to disagree. Also, I’m very aware that Brad’s video was mostly for entertainment purposes, he is great at creating these reaction videos and creating discourse on a variety of hair-related topics, and I think this was really fun! No harm, no foul, no hard feelings Brad! But if you do want to learn more about curly hair...

  • Brad: “Nobody walks around with wet hair all day.” Curly hair people: 👁👄👁
  • @jenhall4085
And this is why I don’t let non-curly haired people touch my hair. No matter how much “research” they claim to have done they almost never know how to handle curly hair
  • @dumbgenious1960
People need to realize how vast hairstylists can expertise in. Brads expertise seems to be in colouring, especially bleaching. Nothing near taking care of curly hair
  • @sakaom
can i be honest? im a hairdresser too, and i never thought this guy was famous because he is a good hairdresser. he is a good entertainer who happens to be a hairdresser, and uses that to his favor, but a lot of the "tips" he gives are straight up bullshit. since hair is so subjective and different to every person, his tips makes it look like a one size fits all
  • “No one walks around with dripping wet hair ALL day” Mel and every curly girl on the planet: Who’s gonna tell him?
  • @magnolia2
A guy with straight hair really tried to come for a CURLY haired professional. Hilarious.🤣
  • Pretty sure the entire curly community can agree that Brad knows very little- to nothing, about curly hair. He tells people to touch their hair while drying, he said curly hair dries faster. He also compared a mannequin with straight hair, to curly hair. He even had the AUDACITY to say to brush curly hair DRY 😬🤢
  • I literally cackled when he said “who’s walking around with wet hair all day” and I KNEW you were gonna come for him ahahaha. This was a gorgeous response, there is such a lack of knowledge about curls in mainstream the beauty industry.. I’d let mel have her way with my curls over brad any day 🙌🏼
  • Girl trust me when I say…I’m not listening to a GODDAMN thing BRAD MONDO SAYS about my curly hair 😂
  • @theacaban
She said, “Professional, licensed hair stylist— AS WELL as a curly hair specialist!” Thank you and goodbye. 🤗😌✨♥️
  • 3:37 Brad: "This is one specific thing that I researched a lot." Brad: proceeds to show zero research by claiming there isn't studies then says its false just because he thinks it is.
  • @mochamimi8781
This is absolutely hilarious because a few weeks ago a girl at my job (who is taking cosmetology school btw) asked if I was gonna straighten my curly hair before bleaching so the roots would be lightened??? I was like no way! And yet she told me I was gonna ruin my hair by dying it at home. I’ve done all my haircuts, big chops and styles at home and people always ask if I got it professionally done. Never trusting a person with straight hair (and with 0 curly hair knowledge) to tell me how to do my hair.
  • @adi28
Brad absolutely refuses to take in information about curly hair and it bums me tf out. Very reflective of the majority of the professional hair dresser community. The reason we have to pay those who actually learn about it 200+ for a curly dedicated cut, and STILL have the fear of having our hair ruined lol.
  • This has the same energy as Elle Woods pulling out the receipts about washing hair after a perm and solving a murder. This would hold up in court✊
  • @KatBlaque
This video helped me understand why my scalp was on fire. Thank you!!!
  • @mikideez623
Oh, you made all the librarians so happy! Doing your research, citing your sources, going to what looks to be high quality sources! You made this curly librarian's day. <3
  • @tr4shkitty
His reply was actually embarrassing. You gave a detailed, scientific explanation and he was just like, "no because come on?" Good one, Brad. Really well thought out there.
  • Notice how Brad said he did "so much research", but then didn't give us a single fact?? 😄 This is why I watch Mell for curly hair advice...... and I watch Brad for bleach fails. 💜
  • @emmettler
this is why i have a childhood fear of hair salons bc it was just these straight haired stylists lookin at me like an experiment. the FACECRACK of him asking who has wet hair all day.
  • University lecturer and lifelong curly-haired person here. 1. I'm so here for people on social media who make reference to scientific studies in order to support their views. Thank you for doing this response! 2. I am so here for people who have curly hair sharing knowledge on curly hair. I don't even go to a hairdresser anymore because they never know how to handle my curly hair - they either treat it like straight hair or else they offer to straighten it for me (which is more than a little offensive to be honest). I'm 33 and I've never left a hairdresser feeling like my hair looks better than it would've done if I'd styled it myself. 3. I am so here for people who advocate keeping the hairdryer about 15cm away from the hair while blow-drying it with a heat protectant and continuous movement. Anecdotally, I've been doing that since I moved to Scotland in 2016 and could no longer let my hair air-dry like I did when I lived in Africa (because - despite what Brad says - thick, curly hair will take FOREVER to air-dry in a country like Scotland). My hair is so much healthier now.
