House Judiciary sent out several key bills including one that would overhaul the disturbing schools law that is on the books and can give officers the ability to arrest students for a variety of broad reasons. The Senate bill which is now on the House floor would only let authorities arrest expelled or suspended students who return to campus and cause trouble. The bill also broadly make it a crime to threaten violence at school. Another bill prevents drones from flying near prisons.

For the first time in decades a Senate panel has taken up a term limit bill, however with five days left in session the hearing was largely symbolic—especially since three Republican gubernatorial candidates testified. We heard from Lt. Gov. Kevin Bryant, Catherine Templeton and John Warren.

Also, the conference committee on the SCE&G rate reduction bill had its first meeting today. but the hour-long meeting was between two difficult debates and yielded no resolution yet.
