Speaking as a born and raised Oregonian, if you're thinking about moving here and debating between here and California, you'll be happier in California. Go there. Oregonians don't like outsiders, and especially Californians. We love our trees, our rain, and our solitude.

OR native here. Both states were far better places to live 20 years ago. The 1-party (communist) system has turned both into liberal wastelands. At least in the larger cities. High taxes, insane laws, homeless epidemic, etc.. Smaller towns in both states are awesome communities.

Food in San Diego 2x the $ food in Oregon. I see what you're saying about farmers markets, but overall I spend way less on food in Oregon shopping at Trader Joes, Whole Foods, or Fred Meyer

Growing up in CA we had no idea how great our weather was but I know all too well after living in ND for last decade. I love it here but gets so cold. I love the west coast it is the best for sure!💗

I disliked because you generalized Oregon based on one city. oregon has many climates scattered around the state. Portland is like you said, rain and that's all Portland is. but we have deserts, mountains just as high if not higher than Cali but none of it is in Portland. Many Oregonians would say you barely did anything. I don't think you're stupid at all, don't worry but I have to tell you visit Oregon, not Portland. you definitely sound bright and eager to try things and learn, so take it from a southern Oregonian, come visit here now, make friends with locals who know all the best places. just don't use Portland to gauge us, it's almost insulting https://youtu.be/V2vwFS8ae2I
