A well beloved series featuring one of the most creatively designed characters I've seen in video games - And unfortunately, a series that has fallen to the wayside.

Today we look at Klonoa - and how the little guy touched the hearts of many gamers.

I have such fond memories of playing the first game. I thought Klonoa had an adorable design; so wanted a plushie if him. Plus it has one of my favorite game OSTs. WAHOO!
  • Stepping Wind is forever engraved into my mind. I'm glad Klonoa had a lil' comeback in recent time with both main games into modern systems and even a Nendoroid.

Klonoa 2 was the game I grew up with and holds a special place in my heart. My mom was a single mom and we didn’t have that much money so we had hand me downs. I had a ps2 from my mom’s Ex and I used to play Klonao 2 all the time before bed. It’s very underrated and I’m happy it’s getting talked about

More people need to know this cute little boi~

I still don't fucking get it why Bubsy got revived more than Rayman and Klonoa to this day.
  • If you understand the concept of the shadow (Jung) and that the King Of Sorrow uses Klonoa’s beta design it’s even more tragic
  • Rip Empire of Dreams, never mentioned, but the game that got me into Klonoa in the first place.

Klonoa punching Guntz's lights out to get him on a boat in Densetsu no Star Medal was definitely a funny moment for me.
  • Where do I even begin with this franchise? In the midst of Mario, Sonic, Kirby, Crash Bandicoot, Banjo-Kazooie, Spyro, Mega Man, or modern mascots like Hat Kid, Niko, and Lucky. Klonoa was THE ONE in my opinion, and he deserved so much better than what he ended up getting. The gameplay, the sense of serenity, the honesty in game development, the narrative, the atmosphere, EVERYTHING was flawless.

Matthew Perry (RIP) was a fan of Klonoa and I find that very funny
  • I'm so happy to see you talk about this series in full length, it's a simple but magical experience especially with it tackling stuff like dealing with sadness and knowing that it's ok to be sad, it's an important emotion that shouldn't be ignored, messages like that make this a beautiful series that makes me sad Namco didn't promote it enough but it's why I'll do everything in my power to keep remembering this series for as long as I'll live!

What I really like about the Klonoa games, is the level design are really so enjoyable and not get too confusing to go through. often I get easily lost in platformer games, but in both 2 main Klonoa games, the levels are all in the good same difficulty with well tied up puzzles but didnt go so hard even to make you confused.

Thanks for giving the little guy some love. He deserves the world 🥺

Klonoa: Door to Phantomile is my first video game I ever played, which introduced me to video games. This game holds a special place in my heart along with The World Ends With You. But man, I'm really hoping for another Klonoa game. The little guy deserves another adventure.
  • There was an ad in German, I think. That advertised Lunatea's Veil for GameCube before getting scrapped. In the Wiimake's files, there was a hidden image upon observing. It said to be continued, hinting at the sequel to be put on the wii, before that got canned. What is also interesting, in Ridge Racer Type 4, in one of the tracks, there is a yellow billboard that advertises Klonoa: The Movie, which also got placed into the canned bin. I think he would be awesome as a cameo in Animal Crossing.

WAHOO I'm part of the fans that joined waaay later into Klonoa's life, playing the first (and so far my only besides GBA ones I didn't finish yet) only 2 years ago (16 then, now omw to 18). Since then I always thought that this game was too good for the treatment it got, and was just unlucky af. But I was thankful it survived with a loyal cult behind it. I loved the whole of it so much it hurts my heart a little to think it could be wandering into forgetfulness..

I couldn't tell you how many hours I put into my original copy on Klonoa 2. Me and my half sister would spend HOURS just replaying levels because it was so much fun. When the Phantom Reverie collection was announced I knew I had to get it and I had to have a physical copy. UNFORTUNETLY they didn't do a state side release of the physical edition. Luckily, I have amazing friends and they ordered me an EU copy for the Switch so I can have it. It was great to be able to experience the first game for the first time and to relive my memories of the second. It also helped me create new memories since I made it my 3rd ever let's play on my channel. I can only hope that one day, we'll get more from this wonderful little series. Great video MangaKamen!
