There's no doubt left in my mind that Koby, despite his humble beginnings, is destined for greatness in One Piece. In an organization as corrupt as the Marines, Koby is one of the few striving for true, honest justice.

There's a reason he's known as a hero, and today we're going to talk about why.

This video contains spoilers for the One Piece manga up to chapter 1109

Koby gave me my first “proud dad” moment when he blew apart that giant stone hand. My boy went from scrubbing decks to decking scrubs

I am Koby's strongest soldier. I will never stop glazing. Chapter 1088 made me feel so damn happy for the guy, and so happy to be a Koby fan.

Koby giving Akainu the hands of justice would be beautiful, and also send every power scaler into a deep depression 😭

Koby and Helmeppo are some of the purest representations of Oda’s skill as a writer and the long term payoff that makes One Piece truly rewarding to read

I’ve always taken Koby, Sabo, and Ace as different versions of what if Luffy instead of being a Pirate Captain he were instead a Marine, Revolutionary, or Pirate follower and not captain.

powerscalers- I sleep /// geography scalers- real shit! Never put the size ratio of Thriller Bark and Fullolead into context. I already thought 'Honesty Impact' was the typical amount of impressive for a late game Shonen Jump manga feat, but this makes it seem absolutely insane! And you made a whole Koby expose about how cool he is without even needing to default to mentioning Luffy's summation of his character at the end of Water7 as "Koby is a man who makes things happen. I know that much." High praise coming from the guy who changes things every place he goes, inadvertently.

THANK YOU! It’s really absurd when you step and look at Koby, it’s terrifying actually Unless Oda comes out and gives some special lineage mumbo jumbo for Koby, he’s arguably the most naturally gifted out there Cos the speed of growth is insane

If he doesn't become the fleet admiral of a newly reformed marines at the end then something ain't right.

I’m so glad you made this video. I absolutely love Koby. He’s always been such an important character to me because he represents how I felt about Luffy from the very beginning. Some people needed until Arlong Park to fall in love with OP, but I’ve been enamored since Luffy first told Koby he was a coward. Honesty isn’t traditionally cool, but it is incredibly important to me as an individual. I think knowing the truth is too important to be concerned with how much it may hurt, and I have a lot of respect for people who are capable of being truthful without malice. It is not always an easy thing to do. The dynamic between Luffy’s willingness to shatter the glass prison that Koby had built for himself with the blunt honesty of the truth, and Koby’s ability to transmute that painful truth into meaningful growth is such an important part of the story for me. He came from absolutely nothing. No talent or position to speak of, and just because someone he admires told him that they believe in him. That he can do it too. He has transformed himself into one of the most capable and humble individuals in the entire Marine force. Koby might not be the coolest character in the story, but I think he is one of the most important for how he telegraphs to the reader that while not everybody can be Luffy, we can all be inspired by Luffy to chase our dreams and become the most free and fulfilled version of ourselves. We haven’t even begun to see how powerful his honesty truly is.

Now THIS is the content im here for. Kobe deserves all the flowers Kobe’s true strength is undoubtedly his courage and bravery. The dude has stood his ground while practically pissing himself, but he stays true to his beliefs no matter how much he wants to curl up into a ball and cry, and that is something everyone can relate to feeling and respect the hell out of him for overcoming it
  • @masteratemu
Im bouncing between this guy and grand line review, so much great content

Koby is arguably for me one of the kindest character of the series looking forward to see more of him untapped potential he has is big he's one of my favorite characters and I really like his relationship with Luffy
  • Akainu vs Koby is a crazy thought that makes perfect sense. There's no other way BUT this matchup. Good stuff. Pink Mamba on top!

So to hop off your torpedo speed of swimming. Torpedoes can reach a staggering 230 mph for a launch speed. Koby also had to jump off his ship and SWIM TOWARDS the torpedo to intercept it. Meaning he had to swim faster to catch up whatever distance he needed to snag that torpedo. So at least Koby was going faster than 231 mph...underwater. Which don't even get us started with water resistance and how much that hampers speed. So yeah. Koby is pretty damn strong

nothing beats getting comfortable during the intro knowing a new topic is on the other end... Also Koby, Smoker, and Garp are my fave marines. Their dedication to true, genuine justice makes them so fun to see in the spotlight.

I've been cheering for Koby for a while now. Not as long as some, but on a rewatch of Marineford I realized how much I wanted to see him succeed. I can't wait to see the new Hero of the Marines in action.
