  • My go-to WordPress Guy! You never fail to help me out when i'm completely clueless on something WP-related! My Child Theme is all ready now and good to go! Thanks, as always Bjorn! You're the MAN!!! (insert trophy emoji here - i'm on the laptop today! lol)

I am so so grateful for this tutorial! This was significantly better than the Divi tutorials. Thank you for all the work you do!
  • Btw I love your videos are very easy to follow and informative thank you !

I use this plugin regularly, and for the most part, it works really well. One flaw I've come across a few times, though, is that when you set up the child theme, your widget areas are cleared. The elements in your widget areas become inactive, meaning you have to manually re-insert them into your widgets. I don't know if this is just an unfortunate compatibility issue with some widget plugins (fx. BlackStudio's visual widget editor), but in any case, it is something to be aware of - and not freak out about, as it is easily fixed. :-)

Copying files from your parent theme via cpanel or your FTP client for use in your child theme is the long way around. Check out the 'Files' tab in the Child theme configurator plugin.

Very helpful video thanks! But I lost my menu updating Vantage to a child theme, fortunately it was in 'preview' mode only! Any idea why it disappears?

Hello, Great tutorial, is there a way to add rtl.css file to child theme??
  • @AndyDOHD1
Just added OceanWP to my test environment and Primary Stylesheet is chosen in option 5 with no reference as you have above, in addition in option 6 "Do not add any parent stylesheet handling" is selected... aren't those selected options the same thing? I'll go along with its automated selection for now.
  • Great Video. Thanks for that. Is it recommended to remove the child theme plugin after creating the child theme ?

Hi! I was wondering if is there some way to install a child theme without having to recreate the website. I mean, I have already created my website and some time ago I realised that it would be great to have a childtheme (or even to change the theme) but I´m afraid I should do all the work again.
  • @dbroche
Great video! Would love to see file creation done through the plugin instead of cpanel. <3 cpanel tho... & inmotion!
  • Hello, I've installed woocommerce in my parent theme and my setup is almost ready. But i didn't created a child theme. Is it possible to create child theme while wocommerce is running using this plugin? Please assist me.
