I’ve read through the adventure to decide if I want to run one of my new to PF2e groups through it but I agree that it feels like it is definitely a better “setting intro” than a system intro adventure, especially given how much it relies on durability and disease rules that I’m not very familiar with myself even after going all in on the system this past year, much less teaching it to my new players.

Thank you so much for covering this. You have inspired how I am going to resume my campaign next year. I truly appreciate your insight 🙏😊

Hell yeah 1st level characters foiling a plot to raise a demon lord is awesome

Great video! One thing that stood out to me in your video I completely agree with, a great adventure and introductory adventure aren't the same thing! I do like that this is a low level adventure that is not designed to teach the players but to give a great low level narrative (at least from how you've described it). I don't think every low level campaign needs to introduce players to the system especially when the beginner box and troubles in otari do a really good job at that.

One thing to note is that even if the ritual goes perfectly, the cult doesn’t actually have the power to rescurrect the demon lord, so the stakes aren’t much beyond normal low level stuff.

Thanks! For my part, I will probably modify it a bit. Let the players do some basic, normal stuff in Osprey Cove, fighting goblins, rats and the like, with room to describe their normal lives outside of adventuring, and then as they reach level 2, the actual Rusthenge story begins (upscaling the adventure by 1 level should not be too hard). As usual with these pre-written adventures, some player consent is needed for them to not just ignore the rusty armor dude and happily sail away :)

Thanks for the video. New Subscriber. Semi unexperienced GM. Going to take 4 players through this one starting Saturday. Two of them are new to Pathfinder but have played DND. Looking forward to it. Gonna keep it as simple as possible if all things go well. Players never do the unexpected right? That never happened before.

I see the idea of playing against 1st level tropes as a positive one for groups switching from D&D. This can provide that experienced player but new PC the style of game they might enjoy more.

Amy DMing PF2 on fantasy grounds unity. Im looking for a shirt campaign or a good fin RP group 😊

Still within 24hrs, this counts as me watchin on time, right?

Malevolence is another low level adventure with similarly high stakes. It starts at level 3 so could maybe be transitioned into with a bit of tinkering?

For some reason I feel like I saw that this adventure was originally for like…5th level or something then got changed
