AMD just released their new AMD Ryzen AI (groan) HX 370 processor for laptops, and besides the naming this thing is great.

"Introducing the Ryzen AI" "What's AI about it?" "The investors."

Most people won't know this, but the "*groan*" is part of the chip's name!

Close enough, welcome back duke nukem linus

The fact that we still have new devices with unreliable WiFi connection is mind boggling to me. I've seen that problem so many times in the field

Whoever threw that clipboard at linus trusted him too much to not drop that laptop 😭

The white dots on the graph that indicate which products are mentioned are really nice. Way easier to follow the story this way.

If you were around in the late 80's/early 90's, you'll remember when every fucking thing ever made had "TURBO" as part of the name. That's what "AI" is now.

Im so fast to the video that i see a different version of Linus

I absolutely love that we are calling out their dumb naming scheme. Especially that giga boring "AI" in the name
  • I mean Hugging Face is one of the biggest NLP libraries there is, so it makes sense to include it
  • 7:00 those are terrible news. It doesn't matter how fast and how efficient is a HW, if you can't upgrade/replace RAM its life will be shorter that it could be
  • Upgradable Memory: According to TechPowerUp AMD has said that the Strix Point memory controller supports LPDDR5, LPDDR5x and DDR5. But even if that's true I doubt we'll see any SO-DIMM Strix Point because it's heavily reliant on memory bandwidth for the iGPU and LPDDR5/5x just deliver more of that than DDR5 thanks to higher frequencies being easier - but on the positive side the new LPCAMM2 standard means the manufacturers can provide user replacable LPDDR5x memory modules! Unfortunately it's probably going to be restricted to high-end second-wave devices given how new it is (and how many consumers doesn't know they need to be able to expand memory). It's not like we've seen many CAMM2 modules for desktop boards yet either, it's very early days for both.

It’s nice that iGPUs are now starting to be serious considerations when buying a laptop It’s good for creator laptops, since they focus mainly on CPU bound tasks. With these iGPUs, they can also play games at relatively good settings and FPS without needing heavy cooling
