H. maculata Hatching and removal of slings

Today we are going to remove the slings from our H.maculata ,we allowed these to hatch in the enclosure to follow the full process from mating to hatch, you will see just how calm these mis-understood spiders can be with the correct handling, a truly wonderfull species of baboon spider.

  • I can't get over how calm all your "bad reputation" spiders are. Just goes to show how much of that reputation is the fault of the keepers!
  • @Me-qp8vz
Mum spider was like "Hey I need a break from all these 150 kids, get me out of here!"
  • Hi Dave, what a beautiful tarantula and I'm glad her capture and return was nice and calm. Camera lady did a fantastic job catching all those little ones too, thanks for sharing ๐Ÿ˜

I'm fairly new to keeping T's. Was always intrigued by them and last 18 months have been intoxicating learning more and more about them. My first was a B. auratum. Next 4 were old worlds. Discovering you and the lovely camera assistant is a gold mine! All the best.

Thank you for your videos! they are very informative. You wonderfully demonstrate that a calm mannerism will prevent needless injury. I've never seen such beautiful spiders. Also, thank you Camera Lady, you do a wonderful job!

After viewing a lot of your videos, I'm stuck with you two! Wonderful clips and so much to learn from you! I've my first love with eight legs right now, since about march, and its an OBT! I was gifted with it, because the previous owner had too much fear... But we love each other! I said it's my first and unbelievably lost it, because the lid of the enclosure was not properly closed... but I found it (I don't know the sex of the spider for now) again, and since this experience we're bounded forever! My Baby was about one meter next to the enclosure in one of my shirts, when I found it, it wasn't thin, but thirsty as hell! And now, I made a new enclosure with a lot of space and possibilities to dig, but you showed me the semi-arboreal(?) skills of the species, and now I will build in some materials to climb! And a Question: Do you still have some babies of your Heteroscodra Maculata? And how big are they now?
  • Awwww fantastic video ๐Ÿ“น ๐Ÿ‘ well done Mister and Mrs Dave ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜
