It makes me think if they ever want to add new and different planets and challenges then they can alter the endings to move you on. Would love it if each ending had a different planet to each other to start on again with new things to find

People are shitting on the devs, but to me it seems like an intentional choice. We're conditioned to think games need an ending and that the destination is what matters... but I think having the 3 very bleak endings is a bit of a meta-textural way of implying what so many people are saying.... the 4th ending is the best one... the one where you stay on the planet. We often think the grass is greener and everything will be better once we work hard enough to get some supposed "reward" at the end, but that's not how life works and many of us end up disappointed with our outcomes because we didn't actually enjoy the journey along the way because we thought the grass would be greener that the real reward was at the end of the journey. But this game is fun to play. You enjoyed the journey. You enjoyed seeing the progress of your work and growing a paradise around you and so staying and enjoying it rather than choosing the greener grass in escape is the "true" ending. It's just as true in life as it is in this game. Enjoy things along the way. Enjoy the day to day incremental improvements that you yourself create and don't wait for the end of HS or college, or the change of a job, or the birth of a child, or the children leaving the house or some other arbitrary "ending" to come to really appreciate what's great about your day to day life.

The true best ending is just staying on the planet

The way I understand the Wardens ending is, even if they are still alive, they will always be hunted by the humans. Sooner or later, they will be caught by them either because they couldn't find another planet to go to or they weren't fast enough and the humans caught up to them. This is obviously not a good life. Edit : A new playthrough with a different starting point will be fun to watch and a little different from this playthrough

Fun fact: That cave shot in the Warden ending unlocks an achievement if you haven’t been there before.

I found you can leave the planet without blowing up the orb if you chose the Warden's ending. Maybe a way to stick it to the corporation.

The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. Sometimes, the only way to win is not to play. Stay put. You have an entire planet, you are top predator, and have water, food, shelter and pets to keep you company . . . Why leave at all ?

Those endings make me seriously reconsider buying this game. The devs are literally saying, "don't bother because nothing leads to happiness." This is a big disappointment.
  • Kind of makes me agree that the best ending is actually just not leaving the planet at all. Just hang out with my fish, frogs, and cool genetically engineered pets forever, lol.

Seems all three might be bad, but the pirate ending was the likely more positive outcome. Sentinel Corp has no real reason to commute your sentence, they will find every little thing to say "you broke this rule we didn't tell you about. You did these things that we didn't even want you to do. You also talked to people that were not from Sentinel Corp when you told to not do that at all." not to mention how they will react to seeing the Wardens attempts to keep away from humans. Warden's Ending probably the saddest of the three. We followed their storyline during early access. Their cautionary tale of them meeting humans. It went from how similar they appeared to how different they behaved and the wardens desire to return to the time before meeting them. The collapse of their entire civilization, driven by an overzealous depths to separate themselves from the very aliens, the humans, they once met. The Pirate ending is the only real "happy" ending. You managed to escape with Riley's help. Even if you are doomed to be still a servant of another persons demands, you're not a prisoner in a cell or having to struggle to survive. Only other "ending" is to not leave the planet at all. Enjoy the world you created, crafted by your own hands. It's why the game is saved before you do any of the endings. Not every game needs a "happy ending" or that it leads to such. Maybe the happy ending is the one we, the player, create. I want to see all the combinations of animals I can create for this world. I like being the master of my own destiny, so I don't think I'll destroy that anomaly, so SCREW YOU SENTINEL CORP! THIS IS MY WORLD!
  • I was hoping doing the Warden ending without blowing up their device would be a 4th ending but it's exactly the same. My thought on the Warden ending is it may have been a message left by the ones that left, so there is a chance they are still out there. Tip on a new game: If you get the key finder as early as possible you end up finding the keys while exploring naturally. The very end of Subnautica you own billions to Altera, so kind of like the Sentinel Corp ending here.

you can also sell fuses back in a Trade rocket to get the 500,000 Terra Tokens. fuses are 5k to 6k a piece. one full trade rocker is worth 125k or more depending on which fuses you sell back.
  • So basically: "There is no happy ending for the Prisoner." That's how it seems anyways. 3 Different endings, all for nothing, as you are still stuck in some type of prison.
  • Some thoughts about each ending: 1) "We will now re-examine your sentence based on the various deviations from the rules that could be attributed to you. For the moment, you will remain in detention while your case is examined." There's a possibility, however slight, that the Prisoner is pardoned, or at least has their sentence greatly reduced. The 'detention' sounded more to me like "We're keeping you in a room while we figure out what to do with you." 2) "To those who follow us, know that our destiny is that of doom. Hope cannot be the only advisor. Sometimes life doesn't find a way. Sometimes the future is not bright." This sounds like someone who is jaded and scarred by repeated tragedies and is imploring anyone seeking safe haven not to expect it from them, simply because they can't guarantee they can provide it. 3) "There are things in this world that even you or I can't win against, even though we thought we would prevail. I would like this to be a happy ending, but I doubt it will be. Good luck." The Prisoner is being sent on a risky new mission, which Riley thinks will be risky. Doesn't sound like an awful ending, just that our protagonist has a lot of work ahead of them. I admit this is all a lot of reaching, but I like to think there's some hope left for our hero after all.

I really love this game, it's soo satisfying to see the planet change around you, and dealing with all the struggles you might expect when terraforming a planet, like having enough food/water, producing enough power, getting a breathable atmosphere, etc. I have played this game for nearly 300 hours already since early access, but I got so many creative ideas for base building and world design, that I'm still excited for this game! Not to mention the challenge that Hardcore mode brings, it really adds that survival pressure to it all!
  • Sentinel corp drops you off on one of the other planets as you still got 20 years to serve 😂
  • @leden9588
Thank you for showing all the endings. The smugglers one was my favorite. I'm looking forward to new season of Planet Crafter. :)
  • @erikmckoul2478
The endings are so unsatisfying. I would like more of a cut scene for those endings so we actually see what happens,
  • @tommya16
    Thank you great stream yesterday.
