The biggest names in the open-world racing sphere, built their following around Identity, and what one comes to expect from each installment tends to follow this trend. The Crew has always been an anomaly on this front, with each release trying new and radically different styles with each game. This video is an in-depth look and review of The Crew Motorfest, and questioning the importance of Identity for a racing game.

The Crew's maps (and Forza in general) have the problem of not creating points of interest for the player, such as dealerships, customization stores, garages, places to meet other players. This helps the player to be more immersed in that universe. That's why TDU contains the most immersive maps in a racing game

as a person who's only played the crew 1, this is definitely a video on the crew motorfest

As a hardcore player that cares deeply about the franchise, i have but one statement about TCM: Imensely fun and polished core, held on by thin threads of broken design, bad decisions and game breaking bugs.

played the free 10 hours and definitely waiting for a sale. But this game brought some fun that most racing games havent shown in a long time
  • Coming from Forza Horizon, honestly my only gripe with Motorfest is its handling. And its not like Ubisoft or Ivory Tower are strangers to that- they can bring the Driver San Francisco style way of how cars drive around the road. Its just that this game has a long way to go in that regard. This game apart from that was a total blast to play through!

The inmersion that Motorfest offers when exploring its map is gorgeous, may be a little map but quality wise is miles better than TC2, handling feels weird at first but i got used very quickly and really enjoy it, vehicle catalog is very good and the upcoming cars are amazing, this game has a lot of future content to offer, like the Hoonigan update in early december

The Crew Motorfest truly seems like a breath of fresh air after being stuck playing games such as Forza Horizon 5 and Need For Speed Unbound. I really like TCM for what it does well, and while I think there are some flaws, The Crew Motorfest is genuinely one of the best racing games I've played in a long time. Also, I can vouch for the EV playlist announcer, as I also pronounce Taycan like he does.

This was such a fantastic, well-edited and thought out essay, and it's easily earned my subscription and like. I look forward to seeing more projects like this from your channel in the future!

Instantly recognized the NFS 3: Hot Pursuit music... Very nostalgic.
  • @wydua2049
I already forgot that this game existed

as a guy who reaching top 1000 in every summit i can definitely agree that summit's point system should be reworked to a cumulative one, leaving TOPs only for those who wants challenges, as for normal players - that skill and parts only defines how fast you can complete summit, because it's bad that most of the players can't get the rewards and that's main issue with these type of events

I tried the game with the 10 free hours and I'm sorry but this game doesn't do it for me. I think I'm just getting sick of games that don't have any kind of progression system. I would love something among the lines of The Crew with its huge map but with an emphasis on really building your garage and upgrading it little by little : starting with an entry level sports car (or bike), upgrading it with IN-GAME MONEY that you win doing races or discovering the map. The races would sometimes have some kind of condition to participate like minimum power, maximum power, drivetrain, a specific brand etc... Would be pretty nice to be able to walk out the car in specific places like gas stations, parking lots, player houses (that could be customizable), mechanics shop. What I'm lacking in racing games is immersion, and you would think having a huge map meant to represent a real place would push devs in that direction but apparently not. I know there's the new Test Drive game that's supposed to go in that direction but I don't know if they're gonna deliver.

I never got why everyone switched to checkpoints in all racers, we had old NFS games just calculate where u are on the track, even the Cars movie tie in games had a perfectly good race system without checkpoints on a open world map. IMO Checkpoints should only be used for special gamemodes

My favorite part of this game is when Cara said "you really are the crew motorfest". Tears won't stop coming. Better than Horizon 5.

Love the vid, well put together, valid praise and brilliant criticism Nice to see a Motorfest in-depth review by someone who knows what they’re talking about in regards to the franchise/ has done their research keep up the great work 🫡

I haven’t played motorfest yet (still waiting for a sale), but as someone who played a good amount of TC2, motorfest sounds like a fun evolution that, unlike horizon, actually has new stuff to differentiate it from its predecessor. It’s also quite comforting to see that whenever I come around to playing motorfest that all the hours I’ve spent in TC2 won’t be for nothing.

The Crew 1 gives me that Test Drive Unlimited 2 vibe while the Crew 2 misses that, hoping Solar Crown can win me back
  • Man watching all these videos on racing games really is making me want start digging back into them!
