What happened to RocketJump on Youtube? Why is Freddie Wong famous? What is Freddie Wong doing these days? Who owns RocketJump? What movies was Freddie Wong in? Will there be a VGHS Season 4? Are Freddie Wong and Jimmy Wong related? Those are the questions you may be asking yourselves on Youtube. In this video, I will go over Freddie Wong's entire Youtube career, his creation and involvement with RocketJump, why Freddie Wong left Youtube, and what Freddie Wong, Brandon Laatch, and Jimmy Wong are up to after Youtube.

Whatever Freddie's doing these days, I hope he's okay. I also hope he's doing what he loves. Dude made my childhood.

Freddie and his friends don't get enough credit these days. They are probably one of the hardest working dudes in the internet space. It's because they love what they do. Even though they wanted to move a little beyond YouTube, to me, they were the REAL last Youtubers of my generation. Classic YouTube wasn't about the money it was about making cool stuff for people to watch and they did that. I will always remember the cool stuff they made on this site.

An interesting takeaway from this is that part of what made Freddy stop making short, VFX heavy videos was YouTube starting to prefer and reward longer videos. Definitely an unintended, and very unfortunate, consequence.

My God, i can't believe VGHS is over 10 years old...I was in like 6th grade when season 1 was releasing. Its really sad how the changes in youtube's structure have totally killed off so many of the kinds of content that made it so big in the first place. I watched so many beloved youtubers get crushed under the weight of ever increasing demands from the algorithm

I don't think we're ever going to get a show like VGHS again. Which is sad because I have sooo many memories from that show. I remember seeing it trending multiple times. Man -.- Maybe someone can take the mantel someday and produce the levels of quality they did. I miss those youtube days.

Freddie is actually guest starring on a Dropout TV series called D20 right now, and it was probably filmed (or at least started filming) before or at the same time that this video was released!

Freddie is such a visionary. Always, always, always working towards something or anything for entertainment for fans or whoever tunes in. What a guy.
  • Wow thanks for summarizing all of this, I always wondered what happened to Rocket Jump. Glad Freddie is doing well.

Definitely sucks not having Freddiew style of videos. But Dungeons and Daddies is really funny and I'm glad it's a thing he does.
  • I never knew Corridor Crew spun off of Rocket Jump or that they made Boneworks. It's crazy how these things turn out.
  • I stuck with rocket jump for years actually. Back when they were still called freddiew, watching all of VGHS and ACD. All the shorts and stuff. I didn’t even realize four years passed after rocketjump stopped uploading and i felt a pit sink in my stomach when I did realize just how much time passed. I’m glad to see that Freddie is still doing stuff. It’s sad to see things come and go, and it would’ve been nice to see a goodbye video, but I’m just glad Freddie seems to have just moved on and not died or got cancelled or some other BS drama. Kinda sad we won’t get ACD season 3 though

It’s sad that a platform that is meant to hold creations of whatever you want, is not sustainable as a job if you don’t meet certain very specific criteria. I love content that is being produced these days, for sure. Even videos like this one here. But the fact that you can’t live off of what makes Hollywood sustainable is probably soul crushing. Imagine creating stuff that rivals big name studios, only to be constantly gate kept to being a YouTuber, even by your own platform. But, love what Freddy Wong does these days, and love what he’s done! It even seems like a couple of people who worked beside him, as well as himself, constantly are pushing the envelope to this day!

I just started VGHS again with my wife and she loves it! Thanks Freddie, for all of your hard work!

I really miss that era of YouTube...VHGS was the peak of it all
  • This is more of a chronical of Freddy's career than what happened to him. I would recommend breaking down all the events into different eras for easier viewing and grasping of timelines. Time slips and slides all over. and sometimes numbers of dates alone don't quantify it. I know I struggle to properly estimate when it was I did something and trying to remember what space I was in 7 or more years ago seems arduous. anyway, that's my only constructive criticism I have for your video. It's very informative.

OMG young Niko and Sam!! These three guys, including Freddie are actually some of the most artistically gifted people on the entire platform! legends!
  • @Rayanaminge
I listen to Dungeons and Daddies still, he is still playing and editing it as far as I’m aware.

freddie was recently on college humors dimension 20, so that’s part of what he’s up to nowadays

Always wondered how Freddie & Co managed to do so much at such a high level of quality. Looks like it took it's toll.
