An Akita saved my dog's life. I was at a friend's house and would bring my happy little cocker spaniel with me every time I visited every week or so. The Akita and my dog got along becuase the Akita loved everyone and every thing. He would gently play with my dog who he could literally throw into the next state if he chose but he was gentle. One visit 3 vicious (they were mistreated) pits broke into my friend's yard and went for my dog. The Akita fought off all 3 of them allowing my Cocker to hide. Akita needed a lot of stitches and was very sore, but I brought him a big meaty bone every time I visited to Thank him for saving my dog. โค

That dog doesn't just like you, he loves you. Akitas are very particular who they let in their circle of friends

Coming back to watch this after the devastating news of his loss. Such a beautiful bear. RIP โค๏ธ

I hope heโs in a place with unlimited blow dries ๐
-
When he growls at the other groomers, it's not because he's unhappy with them, it's just his way of saying "The boss knows how to take care of me. Just bring me to the boss."

Kuma is like those manly guys who pretend with their friends like they don't like a spa day but then they thoroughly enjoy their spa day in private ๐
-
I love Kuma's face. The blow dryer really put him in his happy place.
-
His face with the blow dryer. Pure bliss Edit. I'm so sad to read of his passing. I hope he has unlimited scratches and blow drys on the bridge. โค๐ข

The position of his ears says a lot. He is obviously relaxed around you. Beautiful animal.

Kuma will always be my favorite doggo on the channel. Such a dignified gentleman. RIP Kuma

After watching this very entertaining video of the grooming of such a magnificent dog, I moved on to the comments column. I was devastated to learn that the mighty Kuma had passed away. He looked so robust, indestructible. His owners must be heartbroken.๐

I was astonished by Kuma exposing his throat to the blow drier. This dog absolutely trusts you.
-
Kuma 100% went and got dirty on purpose just so he could come and get groomed sooner ๐๐๐ beautiful boy โค
-
RIP Kuma, you were such a charismatic dog ๐
-
What a magnificent dog Kuma was! I hope thereโs a plethora of dryers where you are! What a good boy! RIP.

The owners knew what they were doing naming him Kuma (Japanese for "bear"), and I love how fitting the name is for him.

Yโall probably know this, but here in Japan the Akita is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, of Japanese breeds and was a hunters companion holding big game like bears, boars, serow, dear and so on. They were used for fighting, settling disputes, and guarding too. Akita is a beautiful place and the Akita dog originates from around the Yuzawa area in Akita near lake Tazawa. They hold a festival called the Inukko Matsuri every year in Yuzawa as a tribute to their faithfulness, bravery, fearlessness and loyalty. A true samurai!
