How cool was that? The April 8 total solar eclipse -- a moment we've been waiting years to experience -- put multiple Northeast Ohio locations like Cleveland and Akron in the path of totality.

And we were here to share the historic day with you with live streaming coverage inside this story!

TOTALITY
During our 3News special "Total Eclipse of the Park," we had live coverage from several spots around Cleveland as the city went into totality at approximately 3:15 p.m. At the Great Lakes Science Center, Russ Mitchell and Betsy Kling were joined by Dr. Jimmy Kenyon, director of Cleveland's NASA Glenn Research Center.

  • Had totality in Lewis Center, Ohio for just over a minute. We travelled to the one 7 years ago but only got into a 95% zone. There is no comparison. If you don't experience totality you cannot understand. One of the most incredible things I've experienced in my 60 years.

Having seen several partial eclipses, NOTHING comes even close to seeing it at 100%!!! Such gratitude it was overwhelming.

Almost 4 minutes of totality. I will never forget seeing this in person ever

Absolutely mind-blowing to be able to see those huge solar flares with the naked eye. What an incredible historical moment for this city

We experience it in Arkansas for 2 min. These pics do NOT do it justice. It is truly beyond description to see in person.

Give this lady a raise she did an excellent play-by-play and made it easily understandable to grasp what was going on the whole time. She knows her stuff!!!!

I drove about 6 hours round trip to be able to see it in totality. I was told it would be worth it, and they were right. It was one of the most speechless moments I've ever had in my life. Seeing in person beats this a thousand times over. I'll be making arrangements to see the next one in 2044. I hope I'll be blessed enough to show my future children such a beautiful event.
  • If watched with glasses, could see a red dot at bottom and the flares arcing. Was beautiful.

Thank you Northeast Ohio for gifting us with an unusual minimal-cloud day to see this great spectacle. SO out of character ! ❤❤❤❤❤

WoW. Incredible...and it made me strangely emotional.

We had an eclipse like that (but just over 2 minutes of totality) in Romania too, in August 1999, and at that time it was also exciting! I was a kid and the year 2000 was coming :) . There were plenty of clouds lurking around on the sky too, but yet we were able to see the „totality plate” by the book! 🌑

We drove 4hrs to Carbondale IL., from Memphis. Totality was 4mins and 8sec....it was the most humbling, grateful and awesome experience seeing that God is in control and alllll THIS is no accident....mighty are the works of His hands...
