I was born and raised in Montréal. I went through the English school system but I switched to French for my masters degree. Thanks for this wonderful video. Many people who move here complain about the city but I couldn't live anywhere else.
  • interessant la façon que tu amènes la question de la langue en montrant que tu fais un effort…les québecois ne demandent pas un français parfait, seulement de démontrer un effort d'integration et un respect…and its a lifetime chance to learn a second language

Congratulations on your video. Among the many English-language videos of the "what you need to know before moving to Montreal" variety, yours is one of the rare ones to insist on the importance of learning French. Félicitations and merci for your show of respect.

For those thinking of taking the public transport, when you buy a metro ticket you automatically have access to a bus ride as well!! as long as its in within a certain time frame

This is the best intro to Montréal ever. Thank you for putting Montreal’s cultural distinctiveness in the forefront.

When you jokingly said that McDonalds has the best poutine in Montreal i totally cringed lol. Great video!

The nightlife is hard to beat if you know where to go. Also, you REALLY want to learn some French and try to speak it everywhere. But you will be able to function just fine almost everywhere (unless you are trying to cruise in that nightlife) regardless of your actual level of French. The rate of bilingualism is high in Montreal, and most here speak 'some' English, with many fluent. If they see you 'trying' but having a hard time, the vast majority will switch to English. The important thing is that you try. Oh... And pot is legal in Canada.

I like your high energy presentation of this great city. I love the architecture, the French culture and the best cuisine in North America! I am not a fan of poutine, but that version with smoked meat on St Laurent - just steps from Schwartz' deli does look appealing! So much to love in Montreal, and you seem to have a good grip on the language. It is one of my favorite cities in the world. I am not even Catho.ic, but inside the Basilica de Notre Dame, you feel like you have arrived in heaven, with all the blue hues.
  • Love your high energy! Actually, this is what Montreal is all about, high energy, free spirit, many different cultures respecting one another, many different ethnic groups mixing together and the song Summertime definitely belongs to Montreal Québec since we celebrate summer here, even under the rain. You forgot to mention a very important event happening at Mont Royal every Sunday, les tam-tams! Bring a picnic and come listen to the many percussionists that reunite with their mesmerising rythms :)

Superbe vidéo sympathique. Je suis un vieux montréalais et je peux confirmer que tu rends à ma ville adorée tout ce qu'elle mérite.
  • I can confirm, Montreal smoked meat on a poutine is heavenly. You can't possibly go wrong by combining the two best foods in the world.
  • because hot air rise , the higher your appartment is, the less rxpensive it will be to heat it from october to April
  • Living in Montreal. With public transports having a car are only an option and it’s not necessary. The STM monthly pass are now 90,50$ since first of July. You can practice many activities as walking, biking kayaking and fishing. In Winter time it’s possible to do cross country skiing, sledding and in all seasons hiking are a great activity
  • You made my city look so appealing! It even convinced me 😂 Especially the part about the restaurants.

OMG ! I just moved here from LA! Thanks for this Video. Also, you’re fantastic!
  • I’ve watched a LOT of these kinds of videos about different cities, including Montreal. This one is by far the most helpful, engaging, and entertaining.
  • Most people just come here to save on education and eventually move out to settle either in the west or the east. I can't wait for the day to graduate from McGill and drive down Highway 401/Autoroute 20-Ouest to settle in Markham, ON.

Really entertaining host! I've lived in Montreal for a long time, but was still a fun video to watch
